Mstott got a reaction from oddysee in SolarMD 3.7kw Lithium IonI have had the 7.4kwh running for the last month now and am very happy so far !

Mstott got a reaction from oddysee in SolarMD 3.7kw Lithium IonSure my system is victron , multiplus ll, venus GX , MPPT 150-60 , 7.4kwh Solar MD and logger V2 , Art solar 350w panels not quite north facing and tilt is not great for winter . I get sun from 9am until 3pm , so far I am getting around 11-12kwh per day . I have been using around 4kwh from my battery per day , I guess it all depends on how you use the battery as well as the load you are planning to run . My grid consumption was 30kwh per day and now 15kwh at the very most , I did also fit a ev tube geyser

Mstott got a reaction from francois in Planning a 2 x 3kW Vicron System@oddysee I have a 3kva victron and solar MD 7.4kwh battery . I have been very happy thus far and cycle my battery every night . On a decent sunny day I generate just over 21kwh .

Mstott got a reaction from Barezzi in Victron & Solar MD DIYI have finally finished installing my Victron system , started by rewiring my old DB , wired from DB to Multiplus with 4mm .Then installed Solar MD 7.4kwh lithium and commissioned with the help of Kalo Yan from solar MD. With all that running smoothly I moved onto the 350w Art solar panels . I decided to go with 10 panels connected in 5 strings fed into fuses then Noarc 63A. I lazer cut my own roof mount brackets from 4.5mm stainless steel and used unistrut for the beams as I wanted a flush look if possible. I plan on running an ESS setup.

Mstott got a reaction from oddysee in Starting advice neededHi I am getting ready to install a victron multiplus ll however need to sort out my DB first . I am installing a 3 row surface mount over my existing DB.
row 1 would be high current .oven , geyser , garage and inverter supply ( Eskom )
row 2 circuits I would like to run through inverter (Solar)
row 3 critical loads (Battery)
To those who have solar what circuit changes would you do if starting with a blank slate ?
And to @plonkster the master of victron , if feeding back to grid is this done via AC In ?
Cheers

Mstott got a reaction from oddysee in Any opinions: Solar MD lithium batteriesOn my 7.4kWh I discharge it to 10% daily so around 6.5kwh used to power my home from 10PM untill morning.

Mstott got a reaction from oddysee in Any opinions: Solar MD lithium batteriesI paid R53k for the 7.4kwh with logger .

Mstott reacted to Ironman in Victron ESS proposalUpdate: 10 October
The replacement parts for the wrong side-plates in the enclosure arrived yesterday - so I assembled the battery enclosure, installed the batteries and connected all up. Added some more trunking for the earth and signal cables, and this is what it looked like with the battery door not fitted:
From now on - the system will not be limited by small batteries - I will post an update of a typical day's data soon.

Mstott reacted to Ironman in Victron ESS proposalI really want to thank @Jaco de Jongh for coming to help me with this system. He programmed the ESS settings into the Venus GX, and lent me his crimp tools for the MC4, earth lugs and the 35mm cable lugs. He also helped with support and experienced guiding suggestions to help me implement all this. Thanks!

Mstott got a reaction from Arandoza in Sonoff Switch For Pool PumpMy smart switch is used to switch a single phase 25A contactor , I would not reccomend using a sonoff to switch without a secondary contactor or solid state relay.

Mstott reacted to PaBz0r in Another Blue installOk it is alive again, performing very well seeing that the rain cleaned the panels and the cloud edge effect today. The MPPTs are not throttled anymore as the combiner box has been sorted to handle 6 strings with correct fusing. Some trunking work and a plug point needs to still be done, Sonoff working well with extractor.
-
Mstott reacted to PaBz0r in Another Blue installOk so they are currently busy splitting my East/West to two 150/45 MPPTs. Hopefully my afternoon will look a bit better going forward.
Additionally sorting out some other concerns:
EL on the Geyser. Battery Isolator - Jean Muller Keto - 3 Pole PV Combiner box upgraded to handle 6 Strings Battery Ground.. (discovered it was connected to nothing) Moving the Oven to Non-Essential ( From my usage and it being very new, it seems that it does not use that much, going to give it a try on batteries ) Connecting a Sonoff to the extractor Fan, which I have now flashed and setup in Node-Red. Will check the Battery Temp and then decide to turn it off or on. Overall the system up to now has run well, my first account I got with a full month was 60kw from the grid, this included some geyser once or twice, the oven every other night and the 50w Grid setpoint from the inverter. Lets see if I can get that down further with my oven plan.
Will post some pictures when they have found space for the two new mppts.. this is getting interesting

Mstott got a reaction from Shawn_Mueller in Victron & Solar MD DIYSo I have had my first full month with the system so thought I would share . This is supposed to be the lowest yield month of the year in Durban so I'm quite happy with the result .

Mstott reacted to pvdw22 in How to tidy up a Venus GX???Thank you Mstott and plonkster. I will look into both these suggestions. friend of mine offered to print a box but printing can get expensive, time consuming and i do not have any control over the process.
