  1. Assuming one can install them in series, at some stage the first inverter may be overloaded as it will have to supply the total load of 3500Kw. I agree with @SilverNodashi - 2 separate systems, 2Kw each would be enough. My garage doors and driveway gate have backup batteries, I haven't bothered connecting them via the inverter.
  2. Recommend installing Teamviewer on ones phone if using Watchpower or similar software. Works like a charm on my Blackberry Z30 with OTG mouse, also have it on a mini ipad.
  3. Energy IN = Energy OUT - losses
  4. Axpert KS, PWM charge controller (pure sine wave) The install would probably have being around 30K if done by a contractor.
  5. @plonkster Not sure what you mean by 60 deg, at any time the phases are separated by 120 deg (1/300 sec) and the sum of the positive voltages is always equal to the sum of the negative voltages.
  6. Another solution but will probably cost both arms and legs. 2 phases feeding a 5000vA transformer = 380V primary - 220V secondary.
  7. Another option is 2 Axpert 4Kva's on 1 phase and another 2 on the other phases. Red phase = 8Kva Yellow phase = 4Kva Blue phase = 4Kva
  8. I decided to do my install due to the inconvenience of load shedding. Inverter feeds all lights and dedicated circuits for pc, TV and Amp, average load during sunshine = 200W Inverter 3Kva = R4000 Batteries 105Ah x 2 = R3500 PV panels 255W x 2 = R3200 Materials = R2000 Total = R12700 I estimate recovering cost over 6 to 8 years @ R1.76 / Kwh with 10% increase / year. Not including replacement of batteries when required. Reckon it's only worth while going completely off grid, whether contemplating a loan or not.
  9. I doubt it, if you require e.g. 5Kw on one phase you will have to get a 15Kw inverter.
  10. The manual recommends 50cm above and below and 20cm side clearance, the heat sinks are on top and vents are on the side. Therefore I think the side clearance is more important, an extract or circulating fan would be a great help.
  11. Same model D52-2048, paid R230 but may have to wait up to 60 days for delivery.
  12. After ordering the meter, I realised it doesn't accumulate Kwh. Will still come in useful.
  13. Anyone try one of these cheapie meters ? http://www.aliexpress.com/item/AC-voltmeter-ammeter-power-meter-power-factor-AC200-450V-100A-DIN-RAIL-with-red-led-display/32307387558.html

Utilisation category: AC-23A frequent switching of highly inductive loads AC-23B occasional switching of highly inductive loads DC-23A frequent switching of highly inductive loads (e.g. series motors) DC-23B occasional switching of highly inductive loads (e.g. series motors) DC -23A requires 2 poles in series.
  15. The pics show a right angled triangle, moving the base of the upright either way will lessen the angle. Is that the optimum angle for winter ?.
  16. I see see PIP MS has a 25A MPPT controller, whereas the MSX has a 60A MPPT controller.
  17. Make sure the current sharing cables are connected 1 (RTC) to 1 (Mecer) and 2 (RTC) to 2 (Mecer) and communication cables are connected 3 (RTC) to 4 (Mecer) and 4 (RTC) to 3 (Mecer)
  18. Won't work, the max input voltage is 80V peak to peak, must be (230 x 1.414) peak to peak. If you manage to get hold of an oscilloscope, be careful as the alligator clip is normally grounded.
  19. @Wetkit, hoop iron is tri-strap without the holes.
  20. The newer inverters have the USB interface, the RS232 is required for the Remote Panel. The RS232 card is not bundled with Remote Panel and has to be purchased separately. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=B6E11F173DB13421!1820&authkey=!ALinbGasIQFRUSI&ithint=file%2cpdf
  21. They supplied the software, upgrade is via RS232 or USB. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=B6E11F173DB13421!1811&authkey=!AE0RxAH4OKsdHI0&ithint=file%2cpdf
  22. Don't know, maybe processing was still going on in the background.
  23. The dry contacts are programmed to various battery states for alarms or indicators. can't see how it can be used to switch the inverter on/off.
  24. Waited about 3 hrs and tried again, new firmware loaded OK. Now have pv panel charging current indication on panel and Watchpower.
  25. Received a firmware update from Voltronic, software reported 'UPS not ready for firmware upgrade' and pv panel icon disappeared.
