  1. Will be installing 2 x 255W Yingli panels shortly, was browsing Rubicon's catalogue, crimping tools from R10k How do installers make a living ?
  2. I was just about to post a pic with the IP address and Device USBxxxxxxxxx number below.
  3. You have the older inverter, the new ones have USB plug and play. The data/charts icon shows Device Mode, the dropdown list seems to be only for selecting unticked functions (others are ticked and greyed out). Select date then click on 'Browse' to see data or charts.
  4. 2.5mm2 is sufficient as long as the earth continuity does not exceed 0.2ohm. Impedance must 10ohm or less.
  5. You can't use AC Isolators for DC, they are not designed to handle the arc created when open circuiting. My battery fuse is bolted onto the battery terminal and the cable bolted on the other end. To replace, first switch off the inverter then no sparking occurs.
  6. Anyone use unistrut and springnuts ?
  7. The 102Ah AGM battery should have no problem starting the 4x4 but it is only used for auxiliary appliances, they are not interconnected when the engine is not running. Otherwise after a few days camping the 4x4 may have trouble starting.
  8. Nice chart: 5 - 6 = Shower 8 - 9 = Breakfast 10:30 - 12 = ? 12:30 - 1 = Lunch 5 - 6 = Supper
  9. Residential consumers installing SSEG who wish to participate in the SSEG tariff must have a bi-directional AMI credit meter installed. The City will provide and install the requisite meters at the consumer
  10. The relay closes when the engine is running and the alternator charges both batteries, the relay opens again when the engine is switched off, preventing the battery (fridges etc) from draining the 4x4's battery. Some installations have diodes to prevent cross charging.
  11. The communication boards enable the 2 inverters to share the load, also to keep the outputs in phase when on battery. Looks like your entire DB is fed from the inverters, Range and HWC */- 6Kw, inverters are 10Kva (8Kw) ?.
  12. Eugene replied to Sethm's topic in Solar Power
They probably said the normal AC breakers cannot handle the spark under load. HRC fuses aren't particular whether the current is RMS AC or DC, I just bolted a 100A HRC to the battery with and battery cable to other end, Bought from ElectroMechanica for R80. You can use fuses and holders if you prefer.
  13. Looks like everything will be fed from the inverters - Range +/- 6Kw, HWC 3Kw, the Inverters = 2 x 5Kva (4Kw) = 42A Resistive load and 35A Inductive. My preferred installation: 60A DP main switch feeding mcb's for Range and HWC (ELR not required) and 2 x 30A (or 35A) SP mcb's feeding inverters. Isolators at inverters with outputs paralleled and feeding rest of installation via existing ELR. Depending on the length, should be fairly easy to install a 4mm2 earth wire to the DB, pull in a draw wire (6mm2) using one of the existing cables, once out, tie on the earth wire and pull/feed back.
  14. All the specs are printed on the face, 220/230V AC coil 25A resistive load AC-7b = 5Kw (slightly inductive loads) AC-7a = 1,2Kw (Motor loads) Hager comes in 12, 24, 110/127, 230V AC
  15. You have too many bends in the conduit between the 2 DB's, you could have lowered the inverter DB and entered on the side with all of the conduits, also fitted a 100 x 100 draw-in box at the bend above the existing DB. Don't envy you installing the earth wires at this stage. A surface installation using pvc ducting would have been an easier option. Why use a surface and not a flush DB ?. Why is the ELR drawn on the side of DB, can't it be fitted in the DB ?. Would like to see how your solar tracking frame works. Steelwork is quite substantial but appears to pivot on a single small bolt.
  16. Siemens, Hager, Schneider etc
  17. Just a thought, having 1 cable 300mm longer may cause a voltage drop of 0.1V, is the voltage of each battery exactly the same ?. Connecting to the busbars pulls the voltage in line.
  18. You don't mention how many poles, the din rail 2 pole is available in 20A and above.
  19. The inverter input and output have separate earth wires to the same earthbar, the inverter earth terminals must be common. Not a problem, just trying to save you money I also prefer to have the isolator before the fuse protecting the battery or any other equipment.
  20. I don't know if Schneider sell direct to the public, Voltex, Cnr Atlas Road & Paul Smit Street, Dunswart, Boksburg. If they don't have stock you will probably have to pay up front before they order it for you. 1 Lever 500W - 52031RD500WE 1 Lever 800W - 52031RD800WE
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if one can uprate to at least 900W, unless the panels are tracking the sun. If fixed, the optimum angle will only be attained once or twice a year. My roof is 45deg, which is optimum for Spring and Autumn. The MPPT must have built in protection against overvoltage and overcurrent, see Warning Codes 13 and 14.
  22. I'm learning to swim, had another look at the specs of the 3Kva MKS. I see Max solar charging current is 20A. 2 in parallel - 30.9 x (2 x 8.42) = 520W 2 in series - (2 x 30.9) x 8.42 = 520W Both are within specs, seems odd to me that the KS model can handle 1500W.
  23. Edited last post after checking manual. The 600W refers to a single panel otherwise the voltage and current would exceed the charge controller specs. e.g. The pv panel max power for the 1Kva is 85W, but 10 can be connected in parallel without exceeding the specs. My calculations for 3Kva MKS model: 3 banks of 2 in series - 2 x 30,9V (61,8V) @ 3 x 8,42A (25,26A) MPPT specs are 30-66V and typically 25A
  24. I have the KS 3Kva Axpert KS = 6 x 260W in parallel (8.42 x 6 = 50,52A) @ 30,9V specs are 50A, 30-32V 4/5Kva Axpert KS = 2 banks of 6 x 260W in parallel (8.42 x 6 = 50,52A) @ (2 x 30,9 = 61,8V) specs are 50A, 56-72V
  25. Any electrical wholesaler, Schneider have 2 and 3,2A which can also be used with electronic transformers.
