I use the oven time for this - if no eskom the timer switches off and everyone know not to use the microwave after sunset. It works like a charm. Stove is gas Kettle i use the stove. I had to hide the electric kettle in the garage. No ironing at night Everything else runs as normal and it lasts me through out the night.

No regrets whatsoever. Turned out the developer put 16 tubes on a 200L geyser So i installed 150L geyser(3kw element) and connected it to the 16 tubes + 20 tubes for the 200L(2kw element)and connected them in series. Also added 2 X Geyserwise Max to control the pumps and they own batteries. It works like a charm. Water gets to 65 and 55 daily on average and i even have enough hot water to shower in the morning and all this without even using electricity. On good days i even get to 70 degrees. I have thought of getting a gas water heater for the rainy days but its not a priority at the moment.

Hi there, i don't know much about the inverter you have, but i know for a fact that Sunsynk inverter can handle the set up you want. Maybe look into changing your inverter. It has a CT coil that supply power to non essential devices( in my case, geyser, oven)

Looks like allot of thought went into this. Depending on your budget, i would target the reduction of your dependency on eskom first. As much as getting a battery and an invert would cater for load shedding, your consumption is still slightly high. Consider getting few panels, 6 - 8 when installing the inverter and the battery. That way you killing two birds with one stone( catering for load shedding and reducing the monthly cost). Also look into a smaller element for your geyser, belive me, it makes such a huge difference. I just changed mine from 4KW to 2 KW, now my solar production is enough to cater for geyzer and house consumption. 6KWH production maxing at 4KWH. Look into Hubble and Sunsynk, currently using sunsynk and loving it, unfortunately i cant comment on the Hubble but allot of guys have mostly good things to say about it. That should set you back R50K for inverter and battery, then panels 6 x 455W canadian solar should be around R15K then installation and accessories. I built my system over phases, within four months and i feel i wasted money by going the gell batteries and growatt inverter.

The 6KWh is my solar production capacity. The Geyzer has a 4kw element that i will change to a 2KW.

Could the problem then be defects on the cubes? Also, i was thinking of taking the tubes out as i don't have enough space for the another set.

Morning all. Please help with my water heating requirements. I would to rely less on Eskom, so i need a optimal water heating system for the house. I currently have 6kw solar array installed and have solar tube that i think are useless as they hardly ever go past 50 degrees in summer let alone in winter. I have recently installed 2 X 49KG gas for the newly converted gas stove. Needs Which options below will cover most of my needs? Stay off Eskom Have enough hot water on sunny days. Have hot water during cloudy and rainy days. Nope. Try it and monitor the consumption. Everything in my house is on the essential load on my inverter. Maybe your inverter might work different to my sunsynk with regards to blending power.

Just my 2c, growatts are terrible when it comes to blending power. I changed my growatt to a sunsync and have never looked back.

I can contribute to the geyser timers. I would suggest you get another geyser. Make sure they both have 2kw element. as for the schedule, instead of 16:00, switch them on during the day when you have solar. I switch mine from 10:00 to 15:00 @65 degrees. After that, i charge my battery as i use it to offset where production is not enough to power the element. With the family of 4 with 2 little ones, i plan on installing another geyser to provide hot water to the master bedroom. The existing one will serve the rest of the house with the kids and guests bathroom and the kitchen. My thinking is that, under normal circumstances, we all can use water from the master and in the morning we can shower in the other bathrooms. That way i wont have to switch on the geysers in the morning, Only during the day when there is sun.

what if the difference is by mppt? 120w on one and 280 on the other. Will that work?

By 11:00 my 5kw battery is full, so i cycle it through out the day because of the 4kw element on my current geyser. By 16:00 its full again. I have room to expand. One side of the garage and another bedroom, but they facing south. For this i am looking to get another 5kw sunsynk

This is interesting. I have a 5kw of panels and a 200L with 12 useless tubes. I am looking to get another geyser as the current is not big enough for 4 people and guests at times. What would be the best solution for me? I was thinking another 200L electric geyser with a time and switch both geysers on during the day from 10:00 to 14:00 back to back. Now learning about heat pumps I am reconsidering the idea.

Can i suggest you go with 2 x 5KW Sunsynk inverters. Instead of 2 mppt, you'll get 4. They come in handy if you have a complicated roof like mine.

That will cause you issues, like for me - power produced by solar or batteries was being subtracted from my units. To solve this, i left the garage plugs on the grip( only plus in the whole house) and plugged the meter there.

Following this as i was also thinking of doing the same with the 2 * Sunsync 5.5kw inverters just to add more panels for load during the day.
