March 12, 20224 yr I was given to understand that my geezer was not connected to my solar system and would from mains power alone. However when I turn my geezer on my panel showed a 3.4kw load and a 2.7kw draw on my batteries, balance coming from my panels. Is this wrong? The installers have come back several times to try and get it to work as I expected it would without success, their only solution being to turn the inverter off. Am I wrong it expecting the geezer to bypass my inverter and batteries? Thanks
March 12, 20224 yr A geezer is an old man. A geyser is a South African term for a hot water storage tank. Anyway, the installer should be able to connect the geyser directly to mains (i.e. completely bypassing the inverter). Edited March 12, 20224 yr by Speedster
March 12, 20224 yr Even if your geyser is connected to the mains only, some inverters like sunsynk and many others can still power the geyser from a combination of solar, batteries and grid depending on the setup of the inverter. Maybe if you tell us what inverter you are using then we could tell if it has this ability.

Thanks If the geyser is connected to the non essential load, this should not happen, unless you are using "System Mode", "Use Timer" ticked, and telling the inverter during daylight hours to use the battery. When there is load-shedding, and the geyser is connected to non essential load, there is no way it will be powered from solar or battery.
