Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand mistery solved !

Today I purchased an older US2000 (don't know software and firmware as this one has the old RJ12 port and don't have a connector for it) and tried to connect the inverter to it and BAM ! Inverter connected to it successfully !!

So my issue is indeed the damn firmware in the inverter.

I can't use the old US2000 as master battery as the newer ones will not work ... so I must wait for China to provide new firmware for my unit ... if ever :(

Hi friends! There is a communication problem with pylontech b dyness batteries. despite the fact that they use the same PYL protocol, they have different cable pinouts, which often causes problems for many users. Defective cables are also often found, this must also be taken into account. So, battery cable PYL: PYL -> INV: 8->3, 7->5.
For DYN batteries: DYN->INV: 1->5, 3->3. Sorry for my English, I'm using a translator. Peace for everyone!

Hi all

Reviving this thread again.

Had my Axpert MKS IV 5.6Kw paired with the Dyness BX51100 installed this week.

Getting the dreaded error 61.

The battery came with a pre-made cable labeled Axpert King which we are using.

Battery set on inverter to PYL and jumper set to 0100

What is happening is the BMS and Inverter comms seems to be syncing (flashing heartbeat). It shows the correct battery capacity etc. Then after about 30 seconds error 61 occurs and the inverter flashes red.  It flashes red for approx 2 min then it goes back to green with the heartbeat fucntioning as it should.  This loop just continues.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

For now I am running the inverter on SBU mode and the battery set on USR with these settings

CV - 56v

FL - 55.5v

Cut-off - 48v

Back to utility - 50v

Back to battery - 52v

Max Charge Current: 40A

Max AC charge current: 10A

Are these settings safe for now?

Don't know the Dyness BX51100 but looking at the specs the settings should be ok.

What voltage does the inverter read from the battery ?

I dont think very accurate is what I can say. It's working for now though.

Step 1 today will be to remake the cable that came with the battery - just in case.

If that doesnt work I will most likely be going to the Solar Assistant Rasberry Pi Platform.

Also waiting to hear back from Dyness.

Just fyi, my Kodak king came with a pylontech cable that is directional. Have you tried turning the cable around? My guess is your cable should have the axpert label on the inverter side as my pylontech cable needs the 'pyl' label on the battery side.

After a lot of research that pinout Sergey gave is for the Dyness B3 series

The BX48100 and BX51100 use - (99% sure):

DYN -> INV ; 1 -> 3, 2 -> 5

The Dyness side is from the battery manual.  The Inverter side I am going on what I could find all over for Axpert

Oh man, this gets confusing because it depends if they are talking about the pins on the port on the battery or the pins on the RJ45 plug on the cable because they are often counted in opposite directions. The Dyness manual doesn't make it clear which they are talking about, but because they count from 1-16 in the table I expect they are going far left to far right. So pin 1 in the battery port is far left and that corresponds to pin 8 on the RJ45 as per the diagram in the BX51100 manual:

I have just checked the pylontech cable that came with my king using a multimeter against the BX51100 pinout in the manual and it is the same. Using the numbering of the RJ45 plug as in the image above, it should be pin 7 on the bat side goes to pin 5 on the inverter side and pin 8 on the bat side goes to pin 3 on the inverter side. If that's what you have and it doesn't work then the only thing I can think is that you might have a different version bms that the inverter doesn't recognize (I've seen this with Narada batteries on here).

Also I just want to confirm - when making the cable - is it only that one pair that I have to wire as per your pinouts?  Can I ignore the rest if I am only going to use RS485?

I tried @jumper pinouts - didn't work.

Used mine as per previous post 1 -> 3 and 2 -> 5 - comms established but then gives error 61 after about 15 seconds - then after 2 min comms again - loop. So back to square one I guess.

I have ordered a SolarAssitant box.  Will let you guys know how that goes. For now just back to USR setting on battery.

Just get MultiSibControl , much better control for Pylontech than SolarAssistant. --- >>> http://www.multisibcontrol.net/

I run SolarAssistant also in parallel but only because it has a web interface , else for battery charge control is kinda useless and for Axpert licensed inverters is full of bugs.

And by the looks of it , your inverter Firmware has same problem as mine ... never got it working with Pylontech BMS.

Yes, you should only need those 2 wires for it to work. Bummer that it didnt help, it might be a software issue between versions or something.

Having a look at Multisibcontrol.  The USB cable between inverter, is that a standard USB cable with obviously the right connector on the inverter side?

Then, the RS485 cable - I assume the one I ordered from solar assist will do the job here.

Only downside I see with this system is you need a dedicated PC connected at all times. Not a trainsmash though.

No , I have an Easunpower but it's based on the same Axpert inverter.

With MulitSib Control I connect to the Inverter using either the USB cable or comm cable that came with inverter.
To the battery I connect using custom USB to RS232 cable and connect to the console port of the battery.

This is my first 48v inverter install.

I have the SOL-I-AX-5M4 / Mecer 5.6kw 6kwmppt 48v  unit.

My inverter runs foperfect for 10 minutes, then gives a error 61 code reboots then runs again for 10 minutes error 61 and so on...

 

So my understand with this thread is #1 that you can by pass the error 61 code by running it in user defined mode? #2 Get the correct wiring cable...

There was alot of talk about firm ware versions and also I think there might be a compatibility issue with the battery and inverter. (Works fine with a 2000 battery but NOT tye 3000)Please see my pic and advise  accordingly.

Currently I'm using the ethernet cable marked "Axpert inverter -> battery" is this the correct cable for comms on my unit or must I use the RS-485 cable

I have exactly the same inverter 🙂 with the same issue.  So its also happening with you battery.  Trust me I have tried every cable and pinout combination that I could find on the internet and this forum.  I think its a firmware issue if you ask me.

I am going to be setting up SolarAssistance when it arrives - will provide yoiu with feedback.  They reckon it will sort out this issue - if it does it will be great and as an added bonus you get much better reporting on your system.

I am also going to be getting my installed to check with Mustek on why this is happening - maybe you should too so they can see it's not an isolated problem.
