Inverters. What is the original and what is the copy?

Featured Replies

Hi !

"Axpert", "Infini", "Mpp Solar".

All look similar. The identical or almost identical specifications.

What is the original engineering brand and / or the copies (fakes with another brand)?

Good question

I am going to stick my neck out because I am not sure. I think based on their websites Voltronic is the manufacturer. MPP Solar, Giant Power, Mecer and Proline (there are others) have OEM agreements with Voltronic and the same inverter is branded in different colours but it is just the wrapping paper. They are the same machines under the skin. Infini has links to Imeon as they share at least the same communication protocol and those in the know  say that they are virtually the same machines. There are copies of the Axpert. The specs are usually slightly different. The MPPT Voc on the one I saw was a dead giveaway.

The MPPT board can be swapped, so they often ship the same inverter with different SCCs (solar charge controllers), either MPPT or PWM. There is even a cheap one without an MPPT too.

As Chris said, I believe the Mecer, RCT, Giant, Axpert, Proline and MPPSolar are all legal rebrands. The fake one is branded MUST. Imagine, a cheaper copy of an already cheap inverter...

Interesting. I wonder if the design and/or firmware are jointly done with Imeon. Or perhaps Imeon just have an arrangement whereby Voltronic manufacture the Infini series.

Nope there was a patent infringement with Imeon and Voltronic Power. Voltronic got the rights to manufacture the Imeon and a few months after that the Infini was born...the 10kw Imeon went elsewhere for manufacture. Voltronic is an OEM and supply all as CHris states in various configs for distributors...

Thanks to all the participants. Between all is slowly clearing, however now the doubt, at least mine, and sorry if I did not understand something, the nationality of the original design: Taiwan (China) / Germany ??
