August 18, 20224 yr Is the demand creating a great time for installers. A quote I received, ex VAT. 8x Canadian Solar 540W @ 3550 = 28400 Railing & cables 3900 600V Protection Box 5450 Battery shelving for 4. 5650 5K Sunsynk. 23150 Batteries: Kodak 3.6kWH 48V x 3 pack: 68000 Transport: 1800 Electrician Installation: 54000 Supervision and organisation: 18000 Total ex vat = 204450 Incl = 235118.
August 18, 20224 yr I'm sure installers are making hay while the sun shines (pun intended), but on the other hand it is fairly labour intensive to be lugging panels onto a roof and doing all the draad trek

August 18, 20224 yr Sorry to call this out. I'm an installer. That is bonkers pricing. R54k to install. What is so special about his work 🤣 @zsdeis spot on. Everything else is pretty reasonable except the last 2 parts. I would say the R18k seems like a reasonable price for the work done full stop. This type of installation should not take more than 5 days depending on the site challenges.
August 18, 20224 yr It's harrowing out there. So many dodgey installs lately. One would think it would be limited to some hit & run smaller installs. Totally not the case. In the last 6months I have seen a range of poor installations ranging in overall Solar plant cost from R140k all the way up to R800k. Solar is relatively a new hot property space at the moment. Beware people & do your homework on who you get into a business relationship with. Get a track record, speak to previous clients. Have a good feeling before hand & go into it with your eyes wide open. We need to regulate our work in Gauteng especially & quickly.

August 20, 20224 yr It feels like a rip off because it is one, my system cost about half that, the only difference is that I have 5 x 450 panels and 2 x UP5000 batteries. 1 more battery and 3 more panels does not make for R120k
August 22, 20224 yr Cost me R6500 for my installation, very similar setup as well 🙂 Edited August 22, 20224 yr by MakoShark
August 24, 20224 yr My System: 24 x CSUN455Watt panels 2 x 5kw SRNE Inverters 3 x 5.12Kw Pytes/Shoto batteries Combiner box Full install R233k incl vat Granted the guys who did the install did some questionable things that I have had to fix, but other than that, this system is working damn well now.
August 24, 20224 yr Quick reminder that yes it is itemized weird they are also a company and a company does work for profit not for giggles.... That setup closer to the 200k Mayembe now 210k. We don't know the installers situation and if that's his price that is what it is, get 3 quotes. I do get a bit sad when people haggle and justify the quote. The price for me to be there and do the job will cost X. It may cost someone else Y. We can not tell someone what to charge. I can go to Toyota and say it's 4 wheels and an engine why is the bakkie nearly a million... You shop around, change brand or save.... We don't poo our pants when we order a R120 burger that we can make at home for 60 bucks. As this is text emotions can not be clear but I message all this is good intent and not anger
