Solar assistant connectivity

Featured Replies

Also updated a few days ago to Software version: 2022-08-30 and no issues.

Remember that you can always connect via Bluetooth to the Pi from your phone and do a Reboot from there. Have a look here:   https://solar-assistant.io/help/access/bluetooth

I have used this option a couple of times when the Pi seems to not be connecting to my WiFi.

Hard reset brought it back - will remember the bluetooth option if it happens again, thanks.

How do you do a Hard Reset? Simply unplug the power supply to the Pi? I was advised that that is not a good idea as the system should be shutdown properly just like a normal PC.

That is why the Bluetooth connectivity works well which allows you to then do a controlled power down and/or reboot from within the SA app.

hard reset isn't great - could corrupt the SD card but sometimes its the only way. will also keep in mind the Bluetooth way - hadn't considered that

@Mdf - thanks for the blue tooth tip.
SA is quite robust as InfluxDB database is stored on disk and most of the /var/logs are stored in ram.
You could mount the SA SD card in a Linux box (or boot the RPI with a fresh SD card and mount existing SA in SD/USB adapter) and run an fsck...
Whilst there you might notice that sshd is on port 2222, and you could add your own account with useradd, and enable sudo...
You could even add some additional python monitoring apps to track cell-voltages of hubble AM2, track a shunt...
Just saying...

Thats the winner, i have had numerous corruption on hard reset, then added log2ram service to to rockpi debian, and i must say its very robust dealing with abrupt resets.

I have joined the beta program and updated the pi. It then randomly tells me the device is not connected to the internet. I can not even connect via bluetooth. Had the system for one year without a glitch, never, not one. I checked power supply and all cables. Tried a lan cable, nothing works right. I then reverted tp the last stable version and now the problem still persists. Im getting fed up because I'm losing comms at critical times and the the pylontech just runs down and then the bms shuts the battery down. I've contacted solar assistant and they just quote what is written in their help file. Idiocracy rules.....Screenshot_20230706_091555_SamsungInternet.thumb.jpg.9ce15db353be0bf36b752f3e65840be5.jpg

Hi @Warlok,

I have found that changing the channel of my wifi router works to get the comms for SolarAssistant back up again. Do yourself a favour and get a wifi scanner app on your phone to check which channels are in use by your neighbours etc. I have seen that SolarAssistant gets very picky when the channel on wifi router becomes congested by a number of neighbours using the same.

After upgrading to the latest stable SA (23-02-28), my Pi started losing the serial connection with my Deye inverter, as well as the connection to the internet (same as @Warlok above, although a clean flash to previous version solved it for me). I'm a sucker for updates, will just have to contain my enthusiasm!

Rolling back to my flash image took me all the way back to 2022-06-28. Connection stable, but missing support for quite a few additional Deye numbers in MQTT/HA.
