Sunsynk 8KW shows no load

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a relatively new installation with the following:

  • Sunsynk 8KW
  • 3 x Hubble AM2 in parallel
  • 12 x 545W panels in 2 strings
  • All load connected to the UPS/critical output
  • No load on Aux
  • No load between inverter and CT
  • No generator
  • Battery settings confirmed by Hubble and BMS working correctly
  • System mode set up to use timer, no export, export solar and priority load.

Before adding the panels, the inverter would show the load very accurately, down to 50/60W. After adding the panels and setting up the system mode, it now often shows 0W load, which is impossible. It looks like it shows 0 when the load goes below around 500W, but that's just a guess.

Switching on the geyser shows up as a 2kw load as expected and this is supplied by the panels. Today I also saw the inverter showing that it supplied a 2kW UPS load and 1.2kW non-essential, even though nothing is connected there. Any ideas?

Is the CT clamp correctly installed?
If yes, then most likely just settings that need to be adjusted.
Maybe post some images of your different settings screens, many of us have sunsynks and someone is bound to spot a settings error/mistake :)

I think I may have fixed it. The Gen/Aux output was configured as Aux, but we haven't connected the load yet. Was planning to connect the pool pump there later this week. I switched it back to Generator and now everything seems to display correctly again. Battery would also not charge above 96% but is now back to 100%.

I had the Aux settings configured to 2000W and "On grid always on" enabled for what it's worth.

Will monitor and see if stays correct for the next day.

Spoke too soon. Seems like it only shows load while PV is on. As soon as the sun sets, it's back to 0W load.

You need to check if the CT was installed and installed correctly as a start. You also need to untick solar export.

Yeah, if there is no load between the CT and inverter, he might as well remove the CT altogether.

Only if limit to load is ticked. And he has it unticked.

If the CT is not installed it will automatically limit to load, as it will measure 0W on the CT. And if there is nothing between the CT and the inverter, the same applies, except if you install it the wrong way around...

And how do you expect to see the pass through wattage from the grid or the wattage from the grid, on the inverter, when he does a grid charge to the battery?

It has CTs internally as well.

Hi, the CT is critical and must be installed correctly. Untick solar export and set "Grid Trickle Feed" to 20W. This prevents exporting. If you are going to use the Aux later, set up for Aux and untick "On grid always on". This setting allows one to use the grid through the Aux when solar power is low.

The way the table is set up the battery SOC will never go below 50%. The way I have set up and tested my table is the grid supplies whenever the battery is below the SOC values I have set.

8kW Sunsynk Inverter

10 390W panels. 5 East and 5 West.

2 x Hubble AM2 batteries

I checked the CT and it looks correct. It did measure input from the grid correctly, before the solar panels were added. I'll see if I can force the system to draw current from the grid to test the CT.

How do I get the system to export to the grid if there is excess solar? I thought that was what the "Solar Export" check box was for. I don't have  a prepaid meter.

I have a similar problem. Installed yesterday and load and grid only shows values when there is load shedding... 3 times already today...

Load only shows during the load shedding times and battery charging in the morning

  •  0600Hrs -0800Hrs
  • 1400Hrs - 1600Hrs
  • 2200Hrs likely to 0000Hrs.

did you ever solve your problem?

I'm having a 8Kw doing exactly that occasionally, it displays no consumption when utility is up, on load shedding the load displays.

It's like its bypassing the inverter without reading even grid load yet there is...

I suspect the relays internally might be sticking
