What size inverter do I require?

Valid point and more correct than my response.

It will be hard to get all three households to work in sync with smaller discharge rates. If I look at how many spanners just one stubborn individual throws into the works in my house,  I would not want multiple.

Being able to supply peak load through batteries is very important for the OP.

My point, which I didn't make well, is that C1 is important for this application.

I would rather go for doubling the battery capacity and save battery life with applying only 0.5C.

But a Deye or a Sunsynk has a programmable auxiliary output. You can put some loads on there with a rule that says that if there's PV and if the battery has at least X% charge then you can supply the loads on that port. It's more flexible.

OTOH the Goodwe is very, very quiet. The Deye and the Sunsynk have fans that some folks find annoying. That may be a deal breaker for some folks.

The new Goodwe 6kW G2 also has an auxillary output and has no fans. The pricing is also comparable with the Sunsync 5kW....Something for the poster to consider.

I have the previous gen Goodwe, so very keen on this new one coming to market...who is supplying them?

powerforum store is an agent....The 5kW is listed at R22K, good value! Just make sure its the G2 range.

Awesome, thanks. Some mates installing soon so I'll definitely punt the Goodwe as an option 😉

All those batteries sound relatively premium. I have BSL, I had Pylontech. I know some ranges of Pylontech had issues. I don't know why the 1.5C batteries would be beneficial. With load shedding the energy requirement will probably mean that 1C batteries will be fine. Try to stick to common batteries so that in future you can buy or sell the same. Perhaps Shoto and Hubble are more common.

My system runs a 0.5Hp booster water pump so the initial in-rush draw is what makes me lean towards the premium batteries. Long-term... over the horizon, would want to run my Induction cooktop (just a 2-plate) off solar during the day, maximum 3000w so again, the initial draw helps when dealing with batteries that can handle that without taking too much of a hit over regular time usage.

I agree that a booster pump is not too energy intense. Cooktops rarely run past 50% and should also not run for hours. In my mind 5kWh is the smallest battery one starts with and then 1C batteries will be sufficient.

My current Chinese "knock-off" 3Kva inverter has served me well for the last 11years and can run my two fridges, lights, booster pump and cooktop during the day at the same time, but I prefer to turn off the booster pump and the cooktop I reduce to 1600w. I make sure I don't run the booster pump after 4pm just in case power doesn't come back and that's all on my 100ah BlueCarbon battery. In bad time my system lasts until midnight if power doesn't come back, so ideally 2 x 100ah batteries would have been great.

Hi,

So in essence you are asking for households  as example be able to draw 11kw:

Uhmmmm that on a 48V battery backup is a combined 241Amps current.

Let us assume you install one battery backup, and need it to at least keep them up for 2 hrs, at those required will mean you need in the region of R250k just for that.

Unless you sit down and work out a precise plan.

I would go seperate system for each, with clear guide lines, like no kettle during loadshedding, or hairdrying or something. Problem is the moment you cater for Anything that heats, it escalates the battery costs through the roof.

Example we are a household of 4 and manage with a single 100Ah battery, only using like 20% capacity during 4 hrs loadshedding.

Hi what are you powering for the 4hrs of load shedding.

I have a printing company and i wanted to know what will i need or how can i culculate the requirements to run 2 x P.C Desktop and 2 x industrial digital printers.
