Help with BMS selection

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. I need some help with selecting a BMS.

I notice 2 discharge currents in the specs as well as a sparkle current which is a term I have not read about before. Red line on picture.

Looking at the picture would the last column in red imply a BMS of 500A if one looks at the rating given for a BMS on line?

Based on spec sheets of other Chinese bms I would suggest the sparkle current is the over discharge disconnect current.
Not sure why they have 2 sets of rows showing the specs for the current, maybe mistake/misprint/edit
Unless the bms has setting to use high or low specs or 2 different models specs on a single spec sheet by mistake.
Chinese spec sheets can sometimes be a bit weird or totally lost in translation.

Looks like they have 14 different models. They show the first 7 on the first row and continue from the 8th to the 14th model on the second row. If you notice, the specs gradually increase. They just represented the data like that to make the specs sheet more compact.

I would translate sparkle current as a current spike, eg if you install it in some electric vehicle (like many do) then the BMS needs to be able to handle large currents on the initial pull away. This usually only last a second or less so if the BMS will not go into over current protection mode then this would be ideal for a custom built ev

Hi guys,

Which BMS is this? What supplier? No doubt Chinese manufacturers.

Daly.

I'm looking for a 8S 24V of 100A discharge. This one I take is a 50A but don't know if it refers to the charge current or is it a 100A discharge. As the discharge is higher I would think the china's will always quote the higher value.

Cannot find stock of my 1st choice being JK.

Thanks @PowerUser you are right and I never saw it that way.
