August 4, 20233 yr Greetings All, Have been using the system in my signature below for two years now and it has been humming along very well. However, I have always had a nagging thought that the system could charge the batteries at a higher rate. Below are the current system settings I have. Any suggestions if this is optimal? Or could I at least push the Grid Charge up to 50A? Thanks MdF
August 4, 20233 yr If it has been running fine for 2 years and not been a problem i would not change anything . There is no reason to charge up the batteries fast if you dont need to,it will likely make them last longer charging at a lower rate .
August 4, 20233 yr lithium batteries perform best at 0.2C so your 50amps / 2 = 25amps to each battery is optimal already and should not really be changed It wont kill the batteries going higher, but they will sure last longer keeping it the way it is. And as @Nexuss said too, if it's been happy all this time then don't mess with it

August 4, 20233 yr Author Thanks Nexuss, Agree with your comment entirely. On cloudy and rainy days, it would be nice to have the batteries fill up at a slightly quicker rate when grid is needed. Addmittedly however, this requirement was during the bad Stage 6 LS etc when the time between grid availability was short. MdF Edited August 4, 20233 yr by MdF

Added a few panels but kept the max charging rate the same. LS does not affect us.

Thanks MdF Although I agree with the comments so far I doubt that increasing it only for those days that you can see there is very little sun and want charging faster. This might even be during stage 6 or worse. You can always change it back during the evening. Doing for say 15 days a year should not reduce the cycle by a few hundred from the 1000's they should be good for.
August 7, 20233 yr Author Good suggestions. (1) Yes, have always been looking at increasing number of panels for cloudty days etc. Hopefully to be done by year end this year. (2) Hmmm, hadn't thought of upping the amps on cloudy days just as and when need. As this can be done remotely, that makes quite a bit of sense. MdF
