Hi,

I have decided sa would be a good addition to my system. I would be buying the software only. I have a pi3a around that is not used, and am concerned about it having only one usb port. My battery and inverter communication is good so this setup would be fine.

I would like to find out what the benefits are when connecting the battery to the pi? If the benefits are good I'll swap around pi's to use a 3b instead.

Thank you

In what way @CyberJoe

Install of Home Assistant is dead easy.

Most of the integrations are a piece of cake nowadays, depends on what inverter @mbzn has though

Solar Assistant, one cable to plug in and it works.

Home Assistant, well, install, configure, setup etc. This can a bit daunting for a non technical user.

I run SA on a piZero W. Connected a usb hub to allow for multiple USB ports.

I used RPI3b for SA and found the Web GUI to be a bit slow.
The slowness does not affect SA-mqtt integration.
Recently upgraded to RPI4 and the WEB GUI much better.
Good news is that RPi4 is now back in stock.
