Hello to everyone,  need suggestions from experts,

When the inverter has an inbuilt changeover switch that can flip power within milliseconds from Zesco to the battery bank or Genset, why do we need to use an extra changeover switch?

Fellow buddies can advise

Thanks a lot

Two scenarios spring to mind:

1) in the event that you need to bypass the inverter and operate from supply only, for maintenance or in event of a solar system failure.

2) You may have a supply changeover to switch manually from eskom to generator, as it enters the building?

But i guess it depends on your implementation of your solar system.

Can't talk about Zambian installation standards but in South Africa is part of the installation SANS standards of installation. So 1) it being a standard guideline & without it it will not be signed off with a certificate of electrical compliance. 2) The points the other guys mentioned: when you need to remove the inverter,.how will you do that safely...

Thanks all, here in zambia no need any installation certificate or verification from electricity supply company 😀

Although not needed I will still follow SANS to ensure you have a safe system.
