Deye 8kw inverte wifi module doesnt power on

Featured Replies

Hi all. Have a deye 8kw inverter, the wifi module doesnt power on. Bought a replacement  module and the same occurs with the new module stick logger lsw-3.

There is a small board inside the inverter, that the module connects  too. Where can i buy this module? Im assuming a capacitor went or something.

P.S. the solar company i us3d is not interested in assisting me, inverte is about 11 months old and logger not working for 2 months now.

Still contacting them once per week, maybe they will respond....

Until then im hoping to try and fix this, as im gonna use this thing for about 15 years i hope.

1. Could it be a setting in the deye inverter that enables it? If so where in settings do i go to enable the logger?

2. Where can i purchase the little board that it connects too? Attached pic... wifi plug v1.2 or so it says

I also have the same problem on my Deye 8kW inverter, the logger's lights are all dead.

After chatting to the company that installed my solar system, they explained that the logger dongle or Wi-Fi card inside the inverter, could be faulty.
To test, they will come and remove both the Solarman LSW-3 logger and the Wi-Fi module and test both to figure out which one is faulty.

If the logger is faulty, they simply replace it but if the logger is fine, it means that the Wi-Fi card is faulty.
The Wi-Fi card is programmed based on the inverter's serial number, which means they will get a new one from the supplier/manufacturer.

That is how it was explained to me - I'm waiting for them to come and collect both, but it will take a few days before my logging is up and running again :-(

I had the same issue after I got my inverter back from repairs. Tried another dongle no success. I ended up just getting Solar Assistant. The only issue now is firmware upgrades won't be possible without the dongle.

Hi guys, I'm happy to report that if you're in Cape Town there is a solution. The guys at Deye Service Centre operate at Airport Industria (close to CT International). They tested my Wifi dongle and confirmed it's working, then swapped out my WiFi board free of charge.

This is what you need to do:

  1. Take note of who supplied the Deye Inverter (I got mine from Tesla Solar)

  2. Take a photo of the Serial # of the inverter (it's typically a sticker on the side above the model #) You'll need this when you go to them.

  3. Phone the guys at Deye Service Centre Tel: +27212047207 and let them know you want to test your WiFi dongle. They are friendly and helpful.

  4. If you just want one trip to the service centre, you'll need to also remove the WiFi board and take it along. It takes about 5 minutes to remove and there are YouTube videos that you can watch if you are worried. Disconnecting the pins is a bit tricky and involves scraping off the white glue they used. To be safe, do this early morning so there is minimal voltage coming from the panels. You can do this without turning the inverter off, but I'd recommend doing so, removing the battery fuses and turning off your Eskom supply as well.

  5. Go to the service centre. If the dongle works (it should) they will swap out the WiFi board.

  6. Re-install the replacement WiFi board and connect the Wifi dongle.

  7. You may need to set up the Solarman Smart app again (I had to) and get the dongle connected. The Net light will only illuminate if you've set up the app correctly - it involves temporarily connecting to it's Wifi connection via your phone.

Hey all,
wifi module doesnt work<
panel stopped working few days ago
status lights stopped working as well

very disappointed in Deye Products and Dey quality,

Inverter not even over 1 year old, how can we go fully offgrid with low quality like this? youd think for the price deye products would work.

Also, i dont get a replacement but the same inverter is to be fixed?

installer eventually got back to me after 1 year of asking, now the inverter is with deye for the next 21 days. Really dont know what to do,

ill keep yall posted on deye service turnaround time. Such an expensive product should be able to work, i have 10 year old cheap tablets that work, no excuse from deye really, im guessing i should have went with growatt then, if deye isnt much better.

any advice on improving reliability of these things? turn of smart load? etc?

Mine also stopped working around the 14th of January.

The installer inspected the dongle and found nothing wrong with it. He installed a new inverter and the old dongle worked on it.

The issue is not the dongle itself, but the wifi port inside the inverter that is damaged.

The WiFi on my Deye 8k stopped working yesterday, the inverter is about 10 months old and has been working well so far..............anyway, after much searching I found a solution on Youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pgZurPpJqI&t=426s. It's hard to see exactly what he is doing but you basically have to break/remove the little resistor, C9 on the top left corner of the module. After that the dongle will light up and start working again. I don't know what the resistor is for so I am looking to get a new board sometime soon but this does work. For safety, make sure everything: grid, solar, and battery, are turned off when you are doing this.

replace the c9 100nf

I was about to spend an awful lot of money on a new Wifi logger which would not have worked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pgZurPpJqI For those like me who do not understand the language. Power down everything going through the Inverter, mains, batteries, Inverter power switches, absolutely everything. You do not want to accidently make contact with a live wire although you would have to be very careless to do so. Anyway once you have removed the cover you will see a small board that your Wifi Stick is connected to and in the top left corner there is that small white connector which in my case had nothing plugged into and likely yours to. Next to that on the right is the cause of all your problems, the C9 capacitor who's only function appears to be failure. I used a narrow tipped flat head long screwdriver to break it off, took a small amount of force to work it loose. Scrape against it from right to left so you do not risk breaking something else off ,right to left means if you slip all you will hit is that white connector block. My wifi is fixed and 100% working now.

You say 100nf?

Not 100u?

Mine stopped working yesterday and I'm still identifying if it's the logger or the wifi rs232 board. I've identified a lot of the components of that pcb but am not sure about this 100nf.

So to recap, I removed c9 and my wifi logger is back on. I am going to draw this circuit for that board, however, I think c9 was dead short but I don't have a connection that seems to use it. I'll replace it when I can find a replacement.
