Mike Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 It is now available, but only the plus model that handles 10000w of pv.... i want one!!!!! but at R46 odd thou excl, i dunno if its worth it what do you guys think InfiniSolar_DS_1.pdf Quote
Chris Hobson Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Might be useful for the forumite asking for a 100A MPPT. Here is a MPPT that can handle 10kW of panels - impressive. (The price is impressive too though). Quote
Guest Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I need 8 KW. If I hold on they may just bring one out. Quote
Mike Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 nope no going to happen, there was talk of it last year then the decision for 3 and 5kw in single phase and a 10kw 3 phase in the hybrids, the Axperts are there for up to 16kw single phase and 24kw for 3 phase even though they are not true hybrids. Quote
Wetkit Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 For THAT price they can leave it, sorry :[ Even 2 x 3kw units is still less. There was talk that these 5kw units can be run in parallel, but I think not? The Imeon is looking better every day!!! Guess the only thing that comes close WRT price is 2 x 5kw Axperts with a huge battery bank Even the 6KW IngeCon with it's 96V battery bank is sounding good now, and it can be run in parallel... Guest Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Or maybe, just maybe, the Victron Multi / Quattro's (that can be paralleled) with one or many MPPT controllers bought separately to charge your battery bank that you can have as many panels / batteries as you need / want, maybe becomes an option to investigate. Just putting it out there. As a matter of fact, has anyone here actually done a detailed comparison with the Victron range of products, other than their BMV's and battery balancers? Because in my opinion, when you start talking R30k upwards for an inverter, as I have learned a few times, it is best you have more options available to move when things have to change, as they always tend to do in solar. Wetkit Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Victron do have very good quality products, but the cost for what you get is still very high. Outback is nearly in the same class. Quote

I love my 3K+ and would love to have some more available power, but at that price... Quote
Mike Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 here is what the distributors have to say: quote" The InfiniSolar Plus 5KW is parallelable up to 6 units, 30KW single phase and the 10KW can be parallelable up to 3 units, 30KW 3-phase. The 5KW is pricey, but the InfinSolar Plus 5KW has a dual MPPT, can take up to 18 panels on each, total 36 panels/9000W. In all intents and purposes is a 10KW solar charge with a 5KW inverter. The InfinSolar 5KW is the same specification as the 3KW Plus, a maximum of 16 - 20 solar panels/5000W. Quote
Mike Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 i love the Victron stuff, but if i go for one the quattro 8kva is going to set me back approx R60k, then R10k a pop for blue Mppts, what about the colour control and 702...then you look at a figure of R80 - R90k at least. to me the infini 5kw at approx R43k or the plus model looks more inviting.......i have a demo iMEON if someone want to sponser my move back to the Infini....make me an offer ___ 1 Quote
Wetkit Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Seems like Mercer might also have the smaller 5Kw Infini available at R40k ex vat. It is still a hell of a lot of money. I was hoping for around R35k max For that price I can go and buy 2 x 5kw Axperts and another battery bank. Quote
Willem Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Would have liked the normal infini 5kw (not the plus) with two smaller mppt trackers... but at a decent price please!! would have gone for it around or below the R32k mark... Which I would think is possible if you look at the cost of the 3kw plus. Think you can get the 3kw plus now for R18000? So then a resonable price for the 5kw or plus should be around R27k to R32k? a bit dissapointed at the price tag!!!! Would so like a SMA hybrid all in one... that should also be one very nice inverter... Quote
Carl Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Yes you can get the Infini 3K plus at R17800. Agreed at R46 000 the Infini 5K seems a bit expensive. Its a pity they priced this unit so high!! Quote
Mike Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 i suppose it is because it has two independant MPPT in, can handle 10kw of pv, 100amp charger unit, can parallel ( plus model ). i can get a few at around R37k each excl plus the courier fee to me..... my plus unit is giving me over 40kwh per day, or approx 1.1mwh per month and i still have to add more pv...... i really am enjoying it. superdiy 1 Quote
