Good day Anyone know of a reputable seller of cells in South Africa. Those that I have come across only have EFT as a payment option which is not my preferred method.

Afternoon, Got five (5)Pylontech US2000 plus batteries of which two are C models. Problem with one of them is that all the SOC lights and the red alarm light stays on. Manual say the battery is under protection. No charge or discharge. Switch off for 15 minutes as recommended with no success. No cell swelling visible. Inverter settings: Charging current. 80A. Charging Voltage. 52.5V. Floating Voltage. 51.8V. What can be the problem? Please advise. Dirkie Crous 0836473592 [email protected]

I have MUST inverter PV18-3224 VPM II and a Sako 24V200AH battery 24200 I am trying to connect the battery to the comm port on inverter and get the inverter to read the battery BMS. Where the battery is and where the inverter means I cannot use the supplied Ethernet cables and I am using my own longer one. I think I am doing something wrong in the configurations

Hi everyone! I’m considering building a DIY energy storage solution and came across the Seplos Mason 280 48V 16S stackable battery kit. With its modular server rack design and built-in Seplos BMS, it looks like a great option, especially since it’s available in EU stock for faster shipping. Has anyone here tried it out? I’m curious about things like ease of setup, performance, and any potential challenges. I’d really appreciate any insights from those who’ve already put it to the test! Here’s the link for anyone interested in the specs: Seplos Mason 280 DIY Kit. Thanks in advance, and looking forward to the discussion!

I DIY a solar project at my home. I installed 14 320watt panels in two string. Where I am getting 280v per strings. And I have two lithium server rack batteries, both are 48v 100ah 5.1kwh batteries. Both batteries are connected with bms cable with inverter. the issue is my batteries are charging very slow. And I couldn’t figure it out why it’s charging slower. Hi guys, I'm here because I'm looking for 2 x Catl cells...... Seached all over the web and found this forum, nice! I bought 4 x 155Ah cells (new rating) as second life cells (prob 125Ah left) from Lithium Batteries South Africa when they started the business. Later bought another 2 which I now want to build into another 13v battery. Only problem, they have stock left but only for warranty purposes. So I searched all over, nothing....... Might there perhaps be a member here that wants to get rid of 2 cells? Thanks for reading, Riaan Jordaan

Hi everyone. Does anyone know where I can start looking for a 120Ah lithium cell? I have a 48V battery with 1 dead cell. The others are still fine. I suppose an old 140 or 200Ah cell will also work. I hope someone can help.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have been finding it an excellent source of information, especially about home built batteries and Goodwe inverters. I have recently had a problem, so it is my turn to ask for some help (I have searched a lot looking for answers to this already). For what it is worth I am in Perth, Western Australia. I have a Goodwe 5048 ES (Firmware version on the inverter is 122214/2222E) and 6.6 kW of PV and a home-built battery. My battery is made up from cells that I took out of an electric car I built in 2010 when I recently replaced the pack. The cells are Winston 160Ah LiFePO4, configured in 16S3P (i.e. 56V) but given the degradation of 12 years…

Just wanted to ask , what did you guys put down for battery type (I assume other) , then it ask for a serial number and place of purchase? Then later in the warranty form it ask for battery type (Lithium?), make? and AH(280ah). Did you put in that it is a DIY battery or do you say the make is Apexium Battery?? Not 100% sure what info to give them here?

HI, I have made 2 copper busbars for my Seplos BMS terminals, I need to get these "tinned". I wanted to ask if anybody knows who can do this in Durban area. I have asked a few places and they all seem to say they can't do "tin" but can do Nickel. Is Nickel the correct product to plate the copper busbars or should I be looking for someone to put actual tin on them?

Anyone using any sort of comms hack from their JK BMS to their inverter? There are a few projects out there but most of them are not free. I found this opensource solution and am busy setting it up to test. https://github.com/ArminJo/JK-BMSToPylontechCAN Bought all the bits and pieces yesterday from communica. Completed the hardware assembly/setup and loaded the software and it works great out the box in demo mode. Will change the can board crystal today and then connect it to my JK BMS for initial test to see if it pulls the data correctly. If that goes well then I will connect it to my Sunsynk and see what happens 🙃

I need to build my own 24 Volt lithium battery for my 4x4. I am trying to source cells. I have two options, buy locally, or import from China. Buying locally: Does anyone know of supplier in South Africa that supplies LiFePO4 Prismatic Cells? I previously bought from Lithium Battery SA but they no longer sell individual cells. Importing from China: I can also buy in China and ship it to SA, but I am worried about the import duties. Has anyone recently bought cells from China? If so what was the import duties charged and can you recommend a reputable supplier? I have looked at https://off-grid-garage.com/batteries/ for recommended suppliers.

Hi I found this DIY battery box from EEL, what do you think, the price is cheaper than the Apexium shipped directly to me in Durban. Looks like same BMS the Seplos V2 10E, but I like the power button and the bus bars have a extra hole for the BMS/balance cables. https://www.eelbattery.com/EEL-48V-16S-V3-Server-Rack-DIY-Unit-BOX-Built-in-Seplos-BMS-stackable-typesuit-for-230280302Ah-cells-p4785607.html

So I will be picking up my cells on Wednesday, I also purchased their Apex BMS, which is just a rebranded seplos. I was initially going to buy a steel case and modify it from there, but has since decided to get a 3D printer, draw up some modular designs, and this will now be my project. From the mockups it is going to look good. Will post my build log here.

I bought the new seplos 3 bms to replace my batteries bms. What I forgot to order with the bms's is the comms adapter to connect the bms to my pc. Does anyone know if a rs485 to usb adapter will work? To order now from china will take another 3 to 4 weeks, and I want to install the new bms as soon as possible! Is there a place in SA where i can get such adapter?

I would like a website for those who are fond of lithium-ion batteries. There would be: - an optimizer that would help to select the composition of the battery from preferences in price, size and capacity - tutorials on how to make your own powerbank - where to buy battery components Would you be interested in this idea? ANY FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT TO ME, even negative🙏🙏🙏

I was lucky enough to pick up some Car Lithium crank Batteries, So I done what I think we all do, get some information. Google showed a guy cut the casing on a table saw. His end result showed the content of lots of thin film stacked on top of each other seperated by a bit of copper or Aluminium. This being unusable, and hit the trash bin. Then I ran around to a few battery suppliers. But did not get the answer of its contents. They looked like I felt. Numb and dumb. The good answer/Question I got was that they could not accept them as they are not Recycleable, and there is no proper waste disposal in place....... So I did it, cut them open and I hope I can share my find…

This is not what I had in mind but I need extra energy storage so went with the flow, have the inverter in attic but in summer it gets very hot and EVE LF105 has 4000 cycles at 25º and half at 45º so I decide to put the battery in my office inside a closet and because I have a couple of 4U server cases I build it with one to have a compact build. This are 2 x 5.37Kw independent batteries to have full redundancy. Top and front lid is of to test temperature. If you have any doubt just ask.
