  1. Might be a bad cell in that Pack 2 - the max and min voltages are way out compared to the other batteries. When you charge them to 100% how long do you let them balance?
  2. 1 - yes you can add new batteries to an older pack - Lithium is generally more forgiving of things like this and via the BMS it is able to manage the charge / discharge process of the different age batteries. 2 - If you want to keep battery comms (and potentially the warranty) then you have to use the same size, so another 5.12 battery. If you are more adventurous then you can use voltage settings and mix and match as needed. Ideally if your battery is setup in a 16 vs 15 pack config then you need to keep to that pack config so that voltages match 3 - See above as well - Dyness will likely void your warranty if you don't use comms and / or add a different brand because there is no unified way to manage how different batteries and BMSs charge and discharge
  3. My system turned 3yrs last month (December) and its been smooth sailing the whole time. Had upgrades in years 1 and 2 with nothing in the last 12 months
  4. What percentage was the battery bank at before you added the new batteries? It might just be a balancing issue. Can you tell us how they are linked together? Do you have comms going to the battery bank as well?
  5. The max DC you can generate from a single 5kw is approx 6500w - so this is the most that the inverter will put out. Having more will benefit you in winter though, e.g. in winter you might only be producing 3000 out of your current 5000 but if you over panel you might be able to push that up. Just always keep in mind your open cycle voltage (VOC)

  7. I second the call on price - you can get a brand new one for 14.9 @ solarway suppliers and 15.2 upwards at other sites. Its a great battery though - good luck with the sale.

I thought about that as well - if you could use the RS232 for SA while the inverter uses the RS485 - might be worth a look if you have the time I use the AX48100 line so the 15 cell 4.8kwh battery. Have 3 running and i also cannot fully utilise the SA battery cable due to the config of the batteries
  9. Dyness in general is a good reliable brand - I have been running mine (different model) for 3 years now with no issues. Compared to your BSL - you have roughly the same discharge rate (max 200A on BSL and 200A on the 20kw Dyness bank) When you say you wont be able to gain indepth stats from the battery - is this because the COM port is already used for Inverter comms?

  11. Its unlikely to work directly with Smartthings or Tuya apps. You would need to use something like HomeAssistant. Your Tuya / Smartthings devices would be brought into HA as well as the Luxpower data - then you run the automations from there
  12. 2x5kw Sunsynk 3x4.8 Dyness 18 330w panels in PTA 3 years installed in Dec of this year - i have saved approximately R72k in Eskom costs since install, at an avg of 20k per year. Its an approximate figure because i havent done the work to accurately map the Tshwane tierd rates and just used an average - maybe one day when i have the time / inclination. We still use quite a bit of Eskom monthly - im nowhere near these guys' efficiency and utilisation. Another battery and a couple more panels would help but have turned my focus to water shedding for now. Ideally would like to have 20-25kwh batteries and 12kwp panels at the end of it all but for now it works.
  13. How are they setup on the inverter? and which inverter is it?
  14. Typical Dyness discharge rate is 0.5c so 5kw of your 10kwh bank. When you get to 20kwh you can then push that up to 10kw discharge Is there something that's not working that requires a software update? As far as i am ware there is no user-facing process / system for this - perhaps your installer can help with that.

  16. what protocol is the inverter set to? Did you switch off then on the batteries after the dip and cable changes?
  17. This happens when comms are not setup properly between the inverter and the batteries.
  18. Dyness do seem to be quote bulletproof - I have 3x48100 running for more than 3 years now - also no issues at all

  22. Tshwane are the worst - they haven't even responded to the leak issue when i discovered there was a leak
  23. Had a leak a few weeks ago - got a guy out to do the detection - he used gas and was able to pinpoint the leak quite accurately. Insurance then sent their own guys who corroborated the findings and repair work started a day later. They dug, replaced the pipe and reinstated any damage they had done to the area. I only had to pay excess of 1k - this is with Naked Insurance
