    It will still be Escom, but managed by the Inverter settings if the 'On grid always on' tick box is selected.  If not selected, the Inverter will manage the Smart Load subject to the conditions determined by the user re. 1. PV and 2. SOC - in that order
    if the SMART LOAD option is selected, the Gen Port is converted  from an AC Input (default) into an AC output, managed by the Inverter
    I agree, but just assure that you protect both sides of the circuit ( Origin and end-user)

    Approach the GEN PORT now as AC feed to a secondary or localized DB which houses the EL and MCB that feed the SMART LOAD dependent equipment (geyser, pool pump, etc).  Keep normal AC wiring practices in mind w.r.t wire size and reticulation. Program the inverter
    You can also wire in a change-over capability if need be

    The user determine/program the threshold.  The value specified would be available PV, in excess of the base load required for normal operation. 
    It will be worth one's while to have extra PV panels installed to fully utilize the SMART port functionality

    Correct, if ‘Grid’ is ticked it’ll be on regardless when there’s grid.
    When no grid, the parameters you specify here will apply.
     
    Also note that the PV Power value on this screen is currently-in-use solar power (as opposed to total available power); so this value would be your household’s base load to trigger the port when there’s PV. You can’t specify the power rating of your geyser in this field unfortunately.
    Otherwise, this should do what you’re after.

    Just follow and read all the posts in the inverter section for Sunsynk inverters. Their is more than a text book of information from many members/installers

    Just read the explanation in the manual which outlines the parameters of operation and the logic of the SMART port. It is also essential to note that when one utilizes the SMART port for supplying a geyser or other load, one must incorporate separate protection and EL for such equipment.

    No not at all. The smart load is not on essential or non essential. You have a setting to always have the geyser on which implies using grid if available and not only PV. 
    It is not called smart load just for a name. It is smart. This port is bi-directional. 
    As a non user of this inverter I stand to be corrected.

    You can, when there is grid. Usually the DB is split up into non-essential and essential loads, with the non-essentials not being supported when the grid is down. So if your geyser is on one of those circuits, it can use grid when there is grid.

    We use this to indicate it is just 1 string in series. If we use 5 in series and add another 5 in series in parallel with the 1st 5 we write it as 5S2P.

    I have slightly different view to TaliaB but it is not qualified with any calculation so it is more a guess. 
    5S1P for the North on MPPT. 
    NE 2S and these in series with the 4 panels E90 to give 6S1P connected to MPPT. This string one will need to work out how much the 4xE90 will throttle the 2xNE42 in the after 12h00. This string get you to just below Voc=300V.
    The N359 should deliver the bulk of your yield daily summer and winter.

    Your maxim dc input on each mppt is 500v. So Mppt1= 5x 49.4v=247v and Mppt2 = 4x 49.4v= 197.6v

    Where can one obtain this software from, and can you connect this to the battery via the Lan cables, I'm looking for something where I can obtain the cycles that is left in my batteries

    These guys are 100% a scam. Them battery experts and galactic solar are all the same people scamming. You can see the websites are all cut and paste with the same information. They wanted payment upfront thank goodness I refused. They promised delivery and I'm still waiting. Promised 10am then 3pm for three days. Just call them and have a chat you will laugh at how blatent a scam this is 😂. Please don't get caught.

    I would not use a single string if there is only 1 MPPT. The morning the west side will throttle and in the afternoon the east will throttle. Too much waste if one only get a good yield around the middle of the day.
    One will get the same as per the problem @Nicolas Strachan had with 2 panels of a string lying flat in a series string.

    the connection from battery to battery , according to the manual goes as follows
    on the main battery the cable goes in port b  and on next battery it goes to port A 
     
    for more batteries the same applies battery 2 cable goes on port b and other side on battery 3 goes on port A  again rinse repeat
    the cable is non standard ie a normal lan cable has all eight pins connected
     
    this cable only needs 3 wires as can be seen in the image
    pin 1 to pin 1 , 
    pin 2 to pin 2
    pin 8 to pin 8
    the others pins it says NC i assume no connection so not sure if it doesn't work if the wires are present
    if the wires dont interfere you could use a normal pc cable just make sure its a straight cable not a crossover cable
     
    straight cable the wires will be the same order on both ie normaly this is the one most use 
    white orange ;orange ; white blue; blue ;white green ; green ; white brown ; brown on both sides in this order
     
    if you have a crossover cable the one side is as above and the other side is asa follows
    white orange ;orange ; white blue; green ;white green ;  blue ; white brown ; brown
     
    the portion i'm not sure about its the inverter to battery connection as you can see on the second image there is a bit of uncertainty about pin 2/7
    so as i understand it, you connect the side of the battery  lan in this order and find the specs of your inverter and connect on the other side of the lan cable as required
    as far as i understand this works in a crossover fashion,
    ie whats connected to pin rs485A on the battery side gets connected to pin rs485b on the inverter
    and rs485b on battery connects to rs485a on inverter
     
    ie the transmit pin device 1 has to connect to receive pin on device 2 
    and vice versa the receive pin on device 1 again connects to transmit pin on device 2
     
    rs485a  ====> rs485B
    rs485b ===> rs485A

    Yes it seems that inverter does not include the usage on the non-essential circuits as measured by the CT other than on the Grid screen. That being said I believe it is possible to direct surplus solar power (essential load met and batteries charged) to the non-essential home load that is on the same side of the CT as the inverter. I do not have solar panels yet so this is a bit theoretical to me at this point.

    What do you mean by "achieve total home usage"? Do you mean "show total home usage" or do you mean "supply total home usage with your solar" or something else? If you want to see if your power bill is dropping then check your bill... 😄

    Bear in mind that LD is what flows through the inverter. As I understand it the inverter has a built in CT which measures this. I think this partly explains why Solarman and the LCD do not show the values measured by the (external to the inverter) CT.

    Btw it may well be possible for Deye to implement a feature to track (measured and retain) the grid usage as measured by the CT. One reason they may not be doing this as the CT can be omitted or placed in different places depending on the mode of operation. You may want to politely request this feature if it is possible.

    If not and you really want to measure your usage from the grid you get another energy meter and hook its CT clamp over the main Line wire from Eskom.

    Issue on mine is the installation is about 20m away from the DB. So in the trunking I can see the CT around 1 of 2 load wires. There are 3 with the one being isolated as the PV load. The other 2 load wires come from the DB. I guess one is essential load and the other is grid. 
    Dropped my installer a message to ask about this. 
     
    Question (and apologies for hijacking the thread)..
    Assuming the CT is correct.. if the total load on the house icon was 500w.. and i entered the Grid page, is it normal to see the CT value showing a positive number and the LD value showing a negative value? 
    Example. CT 300w and LD -200w?

    If you draw from the grid then you should see that value as positive. If it shows negative the CT is reversed. I doubt that the CT is correct if on any wire between the DB and inverter unless the whole house is on essential. The LD at - 200W I take is the value that should be positive if you have 200W load switched on.
    The easy way to check is if the grid=CT shows 300W and you switch on the stove or any large load like the geyser by running hot water the grid value should increase accordingly. The line from inverter to battery will show negative while being charged from grid.
    I bit difficult to give exact guidance not knowing how the loads are split etc.

    It should quite easy to spot the CT. It should be on the main incoming power between grid connection and DB. The small arrow pointing to the DB main incomer.
    Get the installer to confirm and get it corrected. This point is clearly indicated in the manual and videos.

    If the CT is correctly installed, the house icon should be the sum of the non-essentials and essentials. Sunsynk has a better display that breaks it down further. For deye you have to go to the "Grid" page (and do a little arithmetic).

    No. I dont see non essential loads on my inverter. Only essential loads.
    Example, if the geyser runs on its element, i do not see its draw on the inverter infographics
