MORE ESKOM WOES... is that possible?
@Gabriël your sheet is correct. If the quoted figure is preceded by a $ sign it refers to the USA interpretation. But do look at how the different financial publishers screw it up. But now Eskom go from 6 noughts to the 9 noughts debt plus the original 6 noughts. Oh, and they battle to complete small projects.... My calculator does not have enough spaces for this. And no cadre's brain will be able to comprehend this. But they are totally willing to enslave us forever. And somebody must ask how the payback will be financed.

MORE ESKOM WOES... is that possible?
I read the Guvament is going for a $10 billion Eskom deal. Wrap it in whateva spindoctor gibberish you want but this will become our country's "doodskoot". I pity the "na geslag" that will have to deal with this.. BTW, a challenge to all. How many noughts in a billion. Warning though, don't get confused between the different countries.

Supply voltage out of spec
Is this a constant issue 24/7 or does it vary at different times? Also use a 2nd tester to verify the reading. Let them measure the voltage at their side. An easy walk from your house. If they are so sure of their case it’s the easy solution. Alternatively test it at a friendly neighbours house. Low voltages are caused by overloading and transformer tapping settings. It is also the sure way of increased amps to machines - causing trips and failures. Which is why you get undervoltage protection at industrial sites. Good if you’re a dealer...

Pylontech Internal Error
I had a long power outage as I was due to go on a two week break. I kept on doing the normal household stuff as I thought the pylons would last. But it was not to be and they shut down. My infini super 4k was showing an error 15 earlier in the day and when it shut down it was showing error 13. Before I left the power came back on but the batteries were still charging in my absence. I could not clear the error and the inverter started up by me fiddling with it. I did not have the time to wait and see if it was going to start up by itself. It then started charging but only after I switched the batteries on manually. I just hope it went on to operate normally in my absence. Although now I see an automatic mains / inverter switch in my future. The big issue for me is why the invertor is trying to manage the batteries as the bms is operating 100% independently of the inverter. It should totally ignore the battery status and only use it when it is required to do so and when it is switched on. Under no circumstances do I need an inverter that tries to interfere with the working of the pylontech's bms. I will let the batteries run down when I'm home again. to see what will happen.

Pylontech US3000 Cabinet
The dimensions on their website drawing is incorrect. I bought it for installation at a certain height and had to reposition it to it being 50mm higher than the drawing dimensions.

Advice on battery capacity
A load management system is written into you future lol I have a 8800w usable system and pulling 1.5a it will last 20hrs. You are pulling 11a. Your inverter also use Watts to do its job. Is the 4.8kw down to 80% dod? The answer is a real Elon Musk. joppie of a few mw...

Running a 3 Phase Pump on Single Phase.
With single phase you’re limited to a 7kW motor. It is huge. And the cable gets thicker.

Running a 3 Phase Pump on Single Phase.
Finances always makes sense. There is a lot on powerforum of guys changing 3 phase db’s. Good reading.

Running a 3 Phase Pump on Single Phase.
Time to do the sums. You can also try to buy 2nd hand cable of the right size. There is no need for perfect looking cables - it should be armored anyway. Why do you want to move away from 3 phase? Unless there is a really compelling reason stay on it.

My Build.
Hi @georgelza Did you get this working as intended? Please the why, where and how. Tx

Running a 3 Phase Pump on Single Phase.
Hopefully your 200m cable diameter will be adequate. And you’ll need a new switch. Check it against tables.

Lithium batteries
I’ve got 4x2400 pylontechs installed since Jan 2018. No problems at all. Mine is charged at 49a which is a bit high for a 6kW gennie as it has to run flat out to do it. I use them only as backup when there is a powerfailure.

Solar Panel angle
I have one as my iPhone gave me notice. They are cheap and I was pleasantly surprised with their quality.

Two JA Solar 275W Solar Panel for sale
Any challenges regarding your order? Their prices are good. Where did you get the combiner box from? What is the performance of the 400w solar panels like?

@georgelza Download ScanTheSun onto an android phone. Nice to play with, easy to use and lots of interesting variations. Oh, and free...

Volkswagen plans a battery factory
I wish... Maybe for a 1980 model. I have a dreaded feeling when a modern car (aka Kuga) catches fire locked doors will not open and you will die. I am waiting for a Pajero owner to confirm this when the battery is short circuited in a river crossing...

Running a 3 Phase Pump on Single Phase.
Gravity means a bigger diameter pipe and is sloooww. Unless you can put up a 30m installation and pump to get to 3 bar.

Volkswagen plans a battery factory
People in the USA have been rebuilding cars to battery power for ages. So no, Tesla was not the first. And they have been doing it very successfull. Much more reliable than fuel cars. There was a recent report where Toyota replaced an old battery pack for free. And services will be short hours for brakes etc. Any garage owner should look long term and ensure he has access to enough electrical power for conversion to chargers in future. Somehow I don’t see the South Africans recharging cars at charging stations on the highways in the middle of nowhere. Safety will remain a big concern. At a point in time mankind will have to choose between fuel for aviation or motoring. But I will be a goner by then. Not my problem lol.

Running a 3 Phase Pump on Single Phase.
You will have a benefit of less friction by replacing the concrete pipe with hope class 6. What is the price on an inverter? I’ve never heard of a 1-3 phase inverter. I am against complicated electronics. Variable speed won’t benefit you as the pump has to rotate at a certain speed to pump water. With a 10m head over 200m pumping 5000l you can get by with an inexpensive small pump. Plenty for sale on the internet.

Recommendation
@Jaco de Jongh Please recommend solar panel rooftop structure for a corrugated iron roof. I need to install 2x7 330w panels but would like to have empty frames for an additional 2 per section. Might need it in the future. And a supplier if you don’t mind. Much appreciated. Johan

Volkswagen plans a battery factory
I read today they announced a $1.1billion battery factory. Are they going to overstate their battery vehicles travel distance. Or have they learnt their lesson. Joke But this is good news.
