2.5kw+3kva+1300w panels vs 5kva+5ka with no panels
I using an 3 kw inverter and was on 1 Esener lithium 25.6 v now on 2 Esener lithium and we use kettles , bread toasters . Microwave , small twin element oven , frontloader washing machine , hear dryer on high at night with out issues . You will be surprised what all you can run from just an 3 kw inverter and lithium battery only issue with 3kw is you have to manage the system so one high Wats load appliance at a time with lights fridge TV and pc running. I have 2060w solar and that helps through the day but on 40 amp charge rate only from solar by the time a go look around 9am in the morning the batterys are around 90% soc after 6 to 8 hours load shedding through the night . With 2 Esener lithium we run microwave for 20 minutes at high and then double element oven for half an hour with lights , fridge ,TV and pc running in the evening and still go through 6 to 8 hours load shedding through the night with out charging battery between load shedding with out issues . I only charge my lithium from solar to save electricity units .

Inverter settings
50% is resting percentage . So I would let the Battery rest for 10 minutes before charging ofter loads to get an idea what your battery percent really is . The higher the constant load the lower volts you can set for shut down volts

What will you do if there is a total grid failure?
That's the big question and scary part how do you protect , but best is NEVER to not draw attention to your property and look like part of the angry hungry mob .

What will you do if there is a total grid failure?
I have enough battery storage to go 18 hours and enough solar to keep them toped up and an 24/7 366 days spring running through my property so endless electricity and water . Gas stove and water heater and enough gas to last 4 month plus so hot water and cooking is also not an issue for a few month . The main concern is not drawing unnecessary attention to the property but that is not an issue as we learnt a long time ago playing load music or showing off your wealth draws all the bad people to the property and with time we learnt how to keep a low profile and never had an issue since . Only issue is food but can food can last some time . So be save and keep a low profile . We hope for the best but plan for the worst

Upgrade battery or add pannels..?
For me lithium was the best move I ever made from gel more solar panels can come later. Gels after 3 years can't take much load any more but still could hold a few hours but I was not willing to wait for them to die as solar only works in the day at night batterys has to take all the load. So for me best move was to go for lithium , Next year I will look at more PV panels

Sharing is caring
If there is a grid failure or if there is power failure for days or weeks I will be more than happy to help keep neighbors fridges cold and cell phones charged through the day . And if the municipal don't like it that's there problem

Backup power for your lights?
I am liking your idea more and more . Looking forward to update of your progress

Backup power for your lights?
Nice , We always looking for a cheap way to keep the lights on in load shedding for the people that does not have money for a medium system . Love the idea

Looking for low cost inverter system to run all house lights (and one or two plugs)
An hybrid sine wave 1200kv 1000w , 1 gel or deep cycle lead battery works great for lights , TV and pc in load shedding and is as cheap as it get . But in SA today we hope for the best but plan for the worst so depending on your budget 2 gel batterys or best one lithium 12v 100ah is best for stage 8 plus load shedding and at least 500w of PV panels for if there is grid failure or power failure for days so you can keep your system running from solar . You will have to shop around for best price on inverter and battery as well as installers cost

Health consequences of L/S and Inverter usage
My health has improved as I don't suffer the frustration and anger 🤬 any more that comes with this load shedding .

any way to increase utility charge amps?
Higher levels load shedding is forcing some to start managing there setup . See what is not necessary to run in longer loading shedding and switching of or looking for more efficient solution . If your float lights are draining the power then try get lower Wats lights or connect your float lights to non essential line (Eskom) and run normal lights outside from inverter so there's at least lighting out side .

Advice needed on adding additional lithium battery or add Solar
I assume you have no solar as you did not mention solar so all you want to get is longer run time to help with this increased load shedding so extra lithium will work . Problem with more storage power is the cost in units kw to charge and float . If the cost is not an issue for you then extra storage is all you need . But if cost to charge is becoming an issue 1kw solar and set charge to solar only will reduce the cost to charge all that storage power . This inverter can't communicate with the lithium so as long as the lithium has the same cell count and volts parallel should not be an big issue .

Synapse V3.0+ & Hubble S1-00 Charge Issue
My old inverter had a problem with the AC charging blow a component but was pushing over 1kw from the PV and so I sent it in for repairs and bought the synapse to use in the mean time and it never gave more then 20amp 500w from my solar PV panels and they were 4 330w 2p/2s at the time and when I got my old inverter back and installed it got 1kw + from the PV My perants in-law had a 15 year old 5 kw 24v transformer inverter not very affiant with pwm controller I gave the synapse to them as it's better than what they have but really not worth its cost and on there PV panels same 500w 20amps nothing more . The open circuit is 84v but this inverter specs say 30 to 80v open circuit 102v so 84v should not be an issue and if it was an issue the mppt would have blown already . No problems with the cables , plugs or panels as my old inverter generates 1kw + from the same panels the synapse was only giving 500w max

Total Blackout South Africa
My dad worked for Eskom letaba power station when Eskom was still the good old Eskom. I can remember him often talking about in the event of a total grid failure what has to be done to get the system up and running in an as short time as possible so can only think in those days they were prepared and trained for such an event . Got to wonder if they even prepared for grid failure and if it happens if the police are prepared to protect the network from cable theft . I have now at least a small system that is perfect for our need that can now run 24/7 if need be . I am one of the lucky ones that have a water spring running 24/7 366😜 days of the years through my property and have pump that can pump water so water and electricity is not a problem . But for there rest , Let's hope for the best .

Synapse V3.0+ & Hubble S1-00 Charge Issue
For the price as it not one of the cheapest cheap inverter at around R8k for an 2400w , I at least expected it to give 1000w from the mppt controller as advertised from specs from 1400wats of solar panels..

Esener 3kw inverter setting/running question
20amps charge is very low try charging at higher amps to see how the fans react as I can only think at 20 amp there is very little heat generated and so the fans cool the components down quick and fans turn of and then heat is generated and fans turn on so this cycle goes on . Even when the lithium reaches float volts it still not at 100% and will draw amps for a short time till it reaches 100% . Hope this helps . I have an different inverter but 3kw on Esener battery and at 40amp my fans run constant but do change speed as the component heat up and cool down with different fan speeds

Inverter to run Power Tools
If you do buy an Esener then here is our setup . Bulk charge 28v , float charge 27.2v and cut of volts 23v

Inverter to run Power Tools
Best is do research on the difference between lithium, lead and gel as there loads on it on Google so you can decide what best and fits you budget . When is comes to Esener and Hubble is impossible to say which is best as it will depend on the grade of cell used in these batterys . The disadvantages of Esener is it has no communication ports or soc light or screen this making it cheaper but if your inverter does not have the ability to communicate with the battery then why pay for what you can't use . If your inverter can communicate then Hubble is better . I bought one Esener battery was happy with it performance and bought a second this giving me the ability to max out my inverter with out over amping my lithium . You really have to decide what going to fit into your budget and from there manage your system but lithium is the way to go . I started with 2 gel went to 4 gel and now after 4 years + moved to lithium . Wish I'd went lithium from the beginning would have save me spending loads on gel that after 4 years could not pull my microwave for longer than 30 seconds .

Inverter to run Power Tools
Esener 25.6v is around R13k and can discharge at 100amp and will last double+ the life of gels with 4000cycles so saving on the long run . If the meccer is 24v then it can run 2s 2p with out issues Most 3 kw inverter are 24v so yes 2p 2s makes 24v . Normally cheaper gels won't have 1000 cycles and R2500 are cheaper gels if you want longer lasting gels that gives you around 600 cycles you going to pay over R3k a gel

My Axpert 3000kVA is sick
I had similar issue with my inverter on gels . My gels were 4 years + also runing every day all day on solar and it got to the situation were the inverter would just shut down if an microwave was used in load shedding and in the day on rainy days the inverter would switch to utility if the kettle or micro was used but the gels under low loads could still run for hours . After moving to lithium with 100amp discharge no more shut downs . So check for volt drops on the DC side when the inverter is under load

Synapse V3.0+ & Hubble S1-00 Charge Issue
I did take it up with the supplier and wrote letter but guess wants some suppliers have your money they don't care much for your problems

Synapse V3.0+ & Hubble S1-00 Charge Issue
First that synapse is overpriced and does not do what the specs say . It supposed to have an 1000w mppt controller . But the one installed in my perants in law's house does not charge more then 500w 20amps from pv so if you are running a fridge , pc and a light or 2 there next to nothing left for charging the battery . There's no firmware update that I can find . I paid R8k for an inverter advertised and specs show 1000w mppt controller but never goes pasted 500w and on a hot day it when the inverters temp is around 40 Celsius it reduces the charge to 10 amps so don't expect much from this inverters charging abilities 2 180w PV is a bit small for charging those lithium batterys .

Gel to lithium assistance
Swop over is easy just check the lithium charge amps , bulk and float charge volts and set the setting on the inverter . Second hand market for gels is dead but if you have no use or the gels are old take them to a scrap yard depending on the weight of the gels you will get a few hundred Rand's for those gels

Inverter to run Power Tools
I run an 24v 3kw mks2 plus inverter but from solar . I run my 800w water pump . Drilling machines , bench grinders , router , heat gun , front loader washing machine , microwave and even the 1400w vac cleaner , Only issue with gel battery is there volts drop under load and 2 gel battery in series is not going to handle much load 4 gels 2s / 2p is going to do better but then the cost of 4 gels you can just as well buy a lithium that can take loads of 100amps .

Budget Lithium Ion Battery Minefield - please help! :-)
Im running one Esener in my 3 kw inverter and it does seem to hold up to the 100amp discharge very well and so I decided to order another one to double the run time . If I did not think it could not handle the load as advertised I would not have ordered another one
