Johann1982 got a reaction from Gareth_ZA in Sunsynk 8kWDo I do it or can Admin move it?

Johann1982 got a reaction from Gareth_ZA in Sunsynk 8kWBy using the android app and selecting LocalMode it connects your phone directly to the wifi dongle then you can change settings and monitor in real time. Only problem is that it disconnects your phone from your home wifi. It would be nice if you could access the same data via home router.

Johann1982 got a reaction from Craig1970 in Sunsynk 8kWYes, no more restarting issues. Everything is running smoothly.
-
Johann1982 got a reaction from Heinds in Sunsynk 8kWYeah, microinverters should do the trick
-
Johann1982 got a reaction from Achmat in Sunsynk 8kW@AchmatGrid was off for over 12 hours, no restarts. As soon as I switched the grid back on it wasn't even 20minutes before the aux cut out the first time. So it is definitely related to the grid connection.

Johann1982 got a reaction from Achmat in Sunsynk 8kWWill check if I can get it sorted. Installed a change over switch to put my non essentials back to eskom for the time being until I can get answers.

I am sure it will work as a deterrent for the jackals, but they tend to get used to new noises very quick and start ignoring it after a while. Only thing that works for a jackal is a 306 round between the eyes.

Johann1982 got a reaction from ibiza in Slave and master with 2 Axpert 5Kv@incagarcilasoI had 2x Axperts in parallel before. The only reason it would change the master and slave around is when you shut them both off and restart. It automatically chooses the master inverter and it can differ from time to time with complete shutdown and restart. Usually when batt voltage drops out completely and there is no mains.

Johann1982 got a reaction from superdiy in Vision Hybrid Bi-directional invertersHi Langeraat
I can confirm that I have pushed around 5.5kw through the inverter without any issues. I have not managed to get it to switch to bypass yet. I have only removed the oven from my inverter, all the rest is going through it.

Johann1982 got a reaction from Energy-Jason in Total beginner question on SolarCouldn't have said it better myself. He might want to rather invest in a dual mppt grid tie inverter where he can add a 2nd set of panels for either the early morning sun or late afternoon.
-
Johann1982 got a reaction from DeepBass9 in Wind Turbine InstallationYou could try and put up a lightning rod next to the turbine, slightly higher. Run a nice thick insulated cable from it away from the turbine site and strip the insulation and bury it for about 5m. Attach the end to a steel spike and hammer it into the ground. The lightning should hit the rod rather than your turbine.

Johann1982 got a reaction from HeinTheTerrible in 2v vs 12v price is it worth it or notHahahaha.. no he has papers for them. I also thought they were stolen at first.

Johann1982 reacted to ___ in Total beginner question on SolarI agree. PV panels don't make that from the second the sun comes up until it sets again tonight. It makes a little in the morning, ramps up to the peak at around 12:30PM (In South Africa) and then ramps down again and by 5PM you're basically done for the day.
So you want to put up enough PV to cover as much of your 900W from as early as possible... but on the other hand, having a large surplus at noon (and nowhere to put it) isn't exactly good either. I mean, that's the lesser problem to have, but a problem none the less :-) So if you can move some loads around so maybe the dishwasher runs at noon, that would be a good idea.
Finally, I see no point in splitting off some circuits. If you're going to run grid-tied, might as well allow the whole house the benefit of the surplus power.

Johann1982 reacted to DeepBass9 in Wind Turbine InstallationHowl? The manual says it makes a harmonious sound, pleasing to the ear of the esteemed user, while bringing good fortune and prosperous livestock.....
-
Johann1982 reacted to DeepBass9 in Wind Turbine InstallationI'm considering that option..........

Johann1982 reacted to DeepBass9 in Wind Turbine InstallationProbably something like that. If it gets stormy later there should be some stronger winds.
Here's the final installation. It is spinning quite fast, the camera just froze it.

Johann1982 got a reaction from Jules in Solar panel to geyserYes, I agree.. The low pressure systems do look common on the roof of a beautiful house in a good neighborhood. lol Just kidding guys..
-
Johann1982 got a reaction from Jules in Solar panel to geyserBoth good alternatives. All depends on what you want in the end of the day. Can't go wrong with Smart-Grid Hybrids, just make sure you buy the correct size for your application. An inverter with 2x MPPT's will in the end of the day make for a more efficient setup.
-
Johann1982 got a reaction from Jules in Solar panel to geyserAs long as the inverter won't be used for just heating your geysers then it will be a good option. I am currently testing a 3kw smart-grid hybrid inverter that has no problem running my geyser for an hour between 12 and 1pm. It also runs everything else in my house except for stove and oven, which is gas. Even without batteries it cuts my usage from 30kwh per day down to 12kwh/day. I get around 16 to 18kwh/d from my panels.

Johann1982 reacted to ___ in Solar panel to geyserAgreed. But there is something reassuring about buying an inverter from people who build welding machines... you know, stuff designed to take the smoke out of large pieces of iron :-)
