Johann1982
Hi Guys Have anyone had any experience with vision inverters? EA3KHD <- Product code, when googled it takes you to eastups website. Hybrid Bi-Directional Inverter Hybrid (Bi-direction) Solar Inverter is PV energy combined with energy storage systems. It utilizes solar power, AC utility and battery power to ensure continuous power supply, and users can store the unused energy produced during the day by PV system in the battery and use it whenever they need, even at night. It helps increase self-consumption and achieve greater energy self-suffi ciency. It is a 3kw 48v hybrid inverter. They are fairly cheap at around R11k ex vat. Does anyone have any comments on them? Seems Vision brings them in and re-brands them.
DownTime
I know of one installer that has tested one of these inverters on an installations and he seemed quite impressed with it. According to him the inverter does not need batteries and can operate from solar only and a 48v battery bank can be connected to it as well. It operates very similar to the Infiny inverter and it seems they are in the process of getting the NRS certification..
HeinTheTerrible
These guys import EastUps units and rebrands them -> http://www.fireflyproducts.co.za/product/3000w-hybrid-inverter/ They don't list that specific unit, though. Do you mind telling me where you got the price for that unit?
Johann1982
Hi Hein I got it from Enervision in CPT. What do you think of the ups? So far after reading through the technical data only downside is they cannot be paralleled. It will also switch to completely to bypass when 3kw gets exceeded for too long, which still isn't bad. francois and HeinTheTerrible

That is pretty awesome! I wonder if the Infini's can do this? Does it mean that let's say the load is 10kw, then the inverter will be bypassed and the whole 10kw will be supplied by the grid? Johann1982
see specs below.. Doesn't look half bad. I am seriously considering replacing my 2x 5kva Axperts with 1x of these. I rarely exeed 3kw draw. Only reason I have 2x Axperts is for the amount of panels. The vision can handle 4.5kw which will be perfect for me. Johann1982
Ok, I have ordered 2x Vision 3kw 48v inverters. Going to test one out for myself and see how it holds up. HeinTheTerrible and francois

When the load exceeds 9kw (Surge Rating) for too long it will switch to bypass. I will know after next week if it indeed will work like that. francois and PaulF007

Wow if that is the case then no splitting of the DB will be necessary, making the install much easier and cheaper. Please keep us updated. Johann1982
That was exactly what I was thinking, but I would still not run a stove and oven through one of these. Changes to DB is minimal when only stove & oven gets taken off. There is also a 5kw in the pipeline, just not sure when they will land. francois

Groenkaroo
The spec sheet of the Vision matches that of the Infini 3 kw Plus almost perfectly. If it is reliable it will centainly give most members of Powerforum a new vision. Pitty it can not be paralleled. Yes, I also noticed that - I think it is just another re-branded infini with some minor changes to the look-and-feel.
Johann1982
So I got my East/Vision inverter today. Looks and feels solid. Will probably install over the weekend. Will upload pics and post update on how it performs. HeinTheTerrible, Noobie and viper_za
Groenkaroo
I also got my Vision inverter today. Johann you must make sure to upload enough pics because this is going to be my first solar installation and I can do with any help I can get. Johann1982
Hi Groenkaroo Sure, will do. The vision seems fairly foolproof. If you follow the manual you can't go wrong. Just make sure you have breakers between everything and the inverter is earthed, then you should be good. HeinTheTerrible

Johann1982
I am trying to download the software for the inverter from Eastups website, but seems the FTP server is running on a Telkom dialup connection. Will get a copy from the suppliers on Monday to fine tune. At the moment the batteries are getting priority charge from panels. I would like to set it so that it uses excess power to charge batteries, but hey.. so far so good. At least it is working.

Just a tip on wiring those bats up.
