Yellow Measure reacted to Rou in Jhb City Power and SSEG
I have seen that during the registration City Power implements for the owner a TOU (Time Of Use) tariff which has for 2022/2023 fixed components - Service Charge= R1462.34 p/month and Capacity Charge= R1307.39 p/month. If that's going to be the case then that is very discouraging for SSEG.. Unless I am reading wrongly the NERSA tariff.

I doubt there are too many who sell back... maybe if there are any on the forum, they can let us know how its going and where they are located (which Province/Municipality).
Everyone got all fired up about being able to sell to the grid and initially in America, Australia and Europe it looked great, for a while, then problems showed up and invariably, the production curve for solar means everyone with solar has excess from late morning until mid afternoon, possibly, but that is not when consumption would peak, I'd think and thus in Europe, you get practically nothing for you electrons during peak solar production and you have crafty fellers that can afford to invest in *LARGE* battery banks, wanting to charge when it costs next to nothing and discharge this back to the grid when electrons are priced at a premium...
In various parts of America they don't want to take the feed into the grid anymore, its more effort and trouble than what its worth...
I suspect even in South Africa, this will be a short lived scenario, best move is to cut the cord if you can and put the savings into a separate savings account to fund future solar replacement/expansion outlays.

Thanks for a informative forum it really helps us newbi's
I am awaiting the delivery of my Solis S6 5K Pro inverter and Hubble AM2 battery - thanks powerforum-store.
Based on my ave consumption we use +/- 15 units per day. All the big appliances are A+ rating and better. Gas stove.
    The inverter's pass-through is 40A.
My house is not connected to the garage. Currently there is a 10mm cable between the main BD and the sub DB in the house.
Please see the attached layout, based on it I have a few questions:

I plan to feed the house only from the invert's output. The cable size should be ok. Is 40A acceptable since it is the Max Pass-through ?
I want to add Surge protection on the inverter's output side. Is it a common earth between the inverter, surge protection on panels and output surge protection.?
I there anything that I need to change before I start ordering the rest of the materials.
    Thanks

A interesting observation is that one points out that the relay for bonding can fail but we never see comments on the reliability of numerous relays in smart switches or those inside the inverter. Due to the mostly lowish current in the bonding relay if of the correct spec it could be one of the lowest risk relays on the whole PV system and should be very reliable. Easy enough to detect if it should fail.
I like the relays with a LED to show when the coil is energized.

It makes a lot of sense to have a cold standby unit in the cupboard, especially if you are isolated and far away from shops and support centres. It also makes sense to have the exact same unit, as some have widely divergent MPPT characteristics, which may necessitate a rewire of your solar panels, and the monitoring software / apps would also be different. The simplest swop-in unit would be one that is exactly the same, you would just need to remember to update the firmware of the standby unit.
But if you want to experience a different inverter, in your situation I would consider the Luxpower SNA5000. It is more or less at the same price point of the Growatt, and its MPPTs have similar voltage and amperage requirements.

Yes, this is possible. A good example is during the "cloud edge effect," although this phenomenon is temporary. It's not a stupid question.

Hello, maybe this is a stupid question. I'm looking at the specifications of a solar panel (https://cdn.autosolar.es/pdf/ficha-tecnica-1002329.pdf) and it seems that every manufacturer uses STC conditions to rate the solar panel, 550W in this case for 1000W/m2 and 25C degrees. My question is, in the case you have even higher conditions (ie 1200W/m2 at X degrees), could you have even more than 550W with this panel?
This question is in general for every solar panel, thanks

https://ecasa.co.za/technical/neutral-earth-bonding-clarified/   Here are the clear regulations. A bonding relay is required in islanding mode. The Neutral output from the inverter is pulled down to earth through the relay to an earth spike. People who say that the relay can fail forget that the eskom earth cable can be stolen or disconnected for some reason. The earth bond installation at your inverter must be according to regulations that is the installers responsibility. The Eskom earth is eskom's responsibility.

I would say that "unfairly" is a bit of a stretch. Your site was inaccurate by your own admission. You fixed it, so you benefitted from someone doing your job for you. No-one in this thread has made any false claim/s. The only one getting paid here is you, so you cannot claim any unfairness.
Take it up with Google then. Better yet, deliver excellent service, and Google will reflect positively on your company.
Good, we don't want to have to report you to the mods for self-promotion / advertising, which is not allowed in the terms and conditions of this forum.

Yes once you can export more than 60A as you plan to do your breaker must be able to allow it without tripping. In your case you exceed it. Even if you limit it on the inverter it just needs a tick and you can exceed the 60A.
Why can't you still use east and west? You just have to use a suitable inverter like the one I suggested with 3 MPPTs of which one is 25A or a 12kW Suns/Deye.
The other point is you can reduce the panel size but so far I get the impression you don't want to?
I belief one needs to marry the inverter with suitable panels.
Also you seem to insist on using SolarMD batteries and not a brand that can talk to the inverter.

I take note of what you say, but I am only becoming skeptical if a new supplier's website is not showing correct/doubtful information.🫣
Proofread, again and again then posts like this won't put your company in question.
    Thanks for understanding.

It feels like Takealot has become a flea market for cheap/poor products but at least I can still get good deals on well known products there as well.

How much do they generally charge for delivery of a 50kg battery?

Although Takealot gives a bit of confidence. About 5 yrs ago I bought via Takealot and got a 2nd hand battery. Apart from only having 50% of capacity the give away was the scratch marks on the smooth top with shiny surface. Also the 3 spring washers only on the positive pole.
I had to motivate before they decided I can return it.

Batteries from the future! 😆. Seriously, I bought mine from these dogdy types some time ago without doing the research. I got lucky and my battery still works great 4 years later but it was not a pleasant experience getting it. It was not a new battery either. I know of some that only lasted a year. Stay away and warn others.

As a seller so many mistakes in the specs.
The cells are 50Ah but the battery is 100Ah.
And only to dream of to have 5 star reviews. A pity they nameless.

I do indeed take notice of what you responded to here as well as your request via the PM.
Please don't blame me as the person who started this topic. Your web page link did indeed indicate 100 Ah in the link and going deeper into the specification it mentioned that the cells are 50 Ah. I will agree with others that when one goes to selling in the public domain then one should not have errors like this. That remains your responsibility.
When there are so many future dated great reviews one will wonder how do so many buyers have wrong up to 9 months future dates on their devices. Not a problem if names are not mentioned.
AFAIK the topic cannot be deleted once placed on the forum and it is only admin that can with good reason delete topics or members.
May I be your proof reader once again. The web STILL shows 3 and 5 year warranties?
