Victron 3kva vs Sunsynk 5kva

Featured Replies

I recently purchased Victron Multiplus II 48/3000 inverter, secondhand but never been installed, so technically new inverter. The purchase was influenced by slightly lower cost compared to a brand new inverter and brand reputation. The main reason for the purchase was to cater for loadshedding and add solar at a later stage. In a way I'm sort of regretting my decision because it seems Victron ecosystem requires many components to function optimally (e.g. MPPTs, BMV, Venus GX, cables, etc). Adding all these components becomes expensive quickly. Another limitation is the 3kva capacity, this can be problematic for future expansion. Meanwhile you get a Sunsynk which is an integrated solution for probably half cost. So now I'm contemplating selling the Multiplus II and buying the Victron, any suggestions/comments will be appreciated.

Have you established your power requirements? Is 3kVA enough or too small?

My load during the night is around 300W (fridge, TV and lights) read on a prepaid meter. During loadshedding I want to be able to use kettle(2000W) and microwave(rated 1000w but can go up to 2000W), not on simultaneously. Then in future I want to add a geyser (4kw element) with solar panels, might reduce it to 2kw element. So for short term, the capacity looks OK but not for long term.

"brand reputation" ....Correction "Perceived brand reputation".

Unfortunately, Victron inverters are much more expensive than the modern day inverters that are available on the market. The Sunsync inverters are functionally very close to that of the Victron's, at a much lower price point, so for the average home-user to buy a victron setup is really not the way to go nowadays. A few years ago there was not much that could touch the Victron setup wrt to functionality and flexibility, but the Sunsync range has effectively displaced them from the home user market.

Of course the Victron die-hards will deny all the above but I'd like to see the stats on new installations of Victron's vs Sunsync's. Victrons are sold by installers because they can be remotely configured, which was a nice feature to have...BUT, the sunsync will also have this feature soon, so there goes the Victron advantage.

I'd like to know from Voctron users what functionality they have that the Sunsync does not have, pros and cons of each.

@FixAMess thanks and I agree with you. I must add that one of those die-hard Victron fans  (whom I won't mention by name) had a huge influence on my purchase 😅. From the reply in this thread and this one Victron vs Sunsynk , it is clear that a large number of people are using Sunsynk due to it's affordability and comparable functionality to Victron. I'm not taking anything from Victron but they're just expensive. I will put my Multiplus II for sale and buy the Sunsynk. Thank you all for your contribution.

@Buyeye Solis 6kw hybrid specs looks good but I see very few people here on the forum are using it. Sunsynk seems to be the commonly used inverter in this forum, so technical support should be sufficient when required.

The sunsynk still doesn't officially have the remote control feature which the solis has.

there are a few of us testing/trying out the new Sunsynk dongle, yes, it is still in the beta stage, the shortest refresh rate is  60 seconds, but have been told they will go real time next year.

Although, it is good to see another brand in the same  price range as the Sunsynk

The Solis doesn’t seem to have the AUX port with its functions, unless I missed it. But anyway, it looks like a good competition to SunSynk. Glad, there are more options to choose from, in the same price range.

I have to admit I can't find a generator input port anywhere in the manual which is German.
