January 27, 20224 yr Hi, I recently installed a 5kw sunsynk. It came with a wifi module and I installed SOLARMAN smart app. This app doesnt really update real time and it also doesnt have temperature monitoring. What are my other options? I see there is an app called Sunsynk logger which seems good, do I need to buy a different dongle?
January 27, 20224 yr yes, you do, that one is 60 second delay, they are working on shortening the delay even further

January 27, 20224 yr Real time data only has value if you plan to do some kind of IoT thing. For practical use the 10-15 minute data interval is fine ... it is the same as we have with our 500kWp SolarEdge system at work. The temperature feed was disabled by Solarman a couple of weeks ago for who know what reason. The Solarman dongle may give you what you want, but if you really crave real time montioring and control maybe look at something like SolarAssistant.

January 27, 20224 yr Author im still waiting for my PV to be installed. I will install the PV then decide whats needed.
January 27, 20224 yr I was dead keen on getting SolarAssistant (runs on a dedicated Rasberry Pi, not using any dongle) until I got to know Solarman. The platform is actually not bad with a good array of graphic tools and easy data extraction, even remote control of your inverter if you take the trouble to get it enabled. I can see myself "upgrading" at some stage, but for 99 out of 100 people the free, bundled Solarman solution should do just fine. Edited January 27, 20224 yr by Scubadude
January 27, 20224 yr As I always say, share your opinions about a product that you have used, but you don’t have to force your opinion down someone’s throat. Live and let live

I can't seem to see that in the solarman smart app

But you need to get Sunsynk / Deye to authorise your user to be able to do it. Once authorised you see a remote control button on the inverter screen of the app. The pic is from Smart. January 28, 20224 yr @branderplank @Terminal3k I have Deye not Sunsynk, so I contacted [email protected] and they were quite helpful to get me sorted out. I reckon they would be able to do the same for you as Deye is the OEM for Sunsynk, and you just need somebody with access to the Solarman backdoor to give your user permission to mak changes. There is an oddity in that they ask for your Solarman username and password, possibly for identification purposes. So best to change the password after all is done.

So I emailed them, unfortunately no reply. Another question, I have the old data logger that works with solarman app. Was I meant to get the new data logger with my inverter? (bought in December 2021). How do I do a firmware update with the old data loggger?
February 5, 20224 yr The new logger is still in beta testing phase and dont come with new inverters yet afaik. You cant do a firmware update with the old logger ,you request a firmware upgrade from sunsynk and they do it remotely (the logger has to have internet connection)
