January 27, 20233 yr Hi All was wondering if anyone is using the Greenrich 5kva lithium battery with there Growatt SP5000ES and solar at home. The reviews are good they say is a 2C battery which means exactly what? Also can pull up to 7.5kws and discharge is good. Please let me know what you think?
January 28, 20233 yr I use a Greenrich UP5000 battery with solar on the SunSynk 5.5Kva inverter. Very good battery, no issues at all. Installed in August 2022. "2C" discharge means that the unit can produce "twice its rated current over time". The Greenwich is a 5Kwh Battery. At 1C, it could produce 5000w for 1 hour, or 500w for 10 hours, ect.. At 2C, the battery can produce 7500w (maximum rated) for 30min. Also, keep in mind that your inverter will need to handle 7500w for that to make any realistic impact. Checking the specs of your Growat inverter, it can only handle 7500w for 5s before overload, so no need to worry about the battery.
January 28, 20233 yr Yeah, the 2C is a bit of a typo on the U-P5000, it can only do around 1.5C. That said, I would not use it at more than 0.5C if you want it to last.

Should charge in about 2 hrs which should be enough time between loadshedding stints. But I don't think it makes sense to try limiting the discharge rate to 0.5C if that will limit the inverter output to around 2.5kW The 5kW inverter will naturally top out at around 100A or effectively 1C discharge rate, except for short surges, and that is more relevant in the absence of extra solar power blended in. Setting it any lower will negate the benefit of buying this inverter and battery combo as a backup in the first place. Maybe just try to manage loads manually when power is off at night, don't run every appliance during loadshedding if you can avoid it.

January 29, 20233 yr Author For now I only got appetite for 1. Will buy another later. Thanks for info
January 31, 20233 yr Author Morning so my installer changed my battery and put the Greenrich U 5000 My question is what setting do you guys use SBU or SUB. I want to use a little as Eskom as I can,but will probably need to work with both settings? Any other thoughts or usage advise will be appreciated. Thanks

February 1, 20233 yr Author I was wondering which setting you guys have your inverter on, SBU or SUB. I have 8 panels and want to use as little power off the Grid as possible, but unfortunately must take loadshedding into the equation. I have it set at SUB on the inverter.

August 31, 20232 yr My research: Cylindrical cells and according to specifications they are rated at 1C. If nothing changes, let us snapshot this thread and revisit it in 3 - 5 years. I have no price data but I hope that they were less expensive than the general prismatic LFP brands. IFR34145-E3415B1-15Ah-A4 Product Specification.pdf

I did notice that the size of the Greenrich seems to be larger than some other batteries - perhaps due to the fact they use cylindrical cells. The 1.5C rating can be nice as you can almost run 8KW off a single battery.
May 21May 21 I am extremely disappointed and frustrated after discovering that I was sold a Greenrich UP3686 lithium battery at the price of a UP5000 in 2022 by the installer, with a fake/tampered serial number attached to the unit.On 10 April 2026, the battery developed a fault and was sent to Elley Power, the Greenrich distribution and repair centre, for assessment. The report confirmed that the unit has a cell fault, which is unrepairable, and that the warranty was voided because the battery had been tampered with. What disappoints me the most is that despite confirming that the battery is in fact a genuine UP3686 unit with only the serial number being tampered with to reflect a UP5000, there appears to be no concern or assistance offered to me as the end customer who was clearly misled and financially prejudiced by the installer. As a customer, I purchased this battery in good faith believing I was buying a legitimate UP5000 product. I was never informed that the serial number was fraudulent or altered. I therefore find it unfair that I am now left without support or resolution after being a victim of deception.I request that Greenrich and Elley Power seriously reconsider this matter and provide assistance or guidance on how this issue can be resolved, especially considering that the tampering was not done by me and has now been confirmed by your own findings. I was provided a new battery on a discounted price.I will advise anyone to careful when buy this product due their installer/reseller temping with serial numbers.
