Posted December 6, 20177 yr Inverter owners, over at our AEVA site we're trying to make a list of Axpert 5 kVA compatible models/rebrandings. A common one in South Africa seems to be the Mercer, but I can't even find a web site with one. Also, searches seem to find more Mecers than Mercers. Which spelling is it? Or are they both out there? It is written on the case anywhere? Can you point me to a web site? Thanks in advance.
December 6, 20177 yr Hi Coulomb It is Mecer, and in SA the importer/Distributer is Mustek. You can have a look at https://mustek.co.za/ Also:
December 6, 20177 yr Mecer started out in computers. I remember the first 80286 I worked on (a friend's) was a Mustek Mecer. They later branched into UPSes and then into inverters.
December 6, 20177 yr Author Thanks, guys. So @Chris Hobson, is your signature wrong? Or do you have a different brand again? For a long time your signature has been: Off-grid system 1 x 5kVA Mercer inverter (rebranded Axpert) 12 x 250W Yingli panels (60 Cell Series) in 4 strings of 3. 4 x 12V CB Solar 260 Ah batteries (800 cycles at 50% DOD) BMV 702 with mid-point probe. HA02 battery balancer Data Management with ICC - Generator backup Also, there are many mentions of Mercer inverters here. Are they all copying Chris' mistake? One example: http://powerforum.co.za/topic/282-portable-generator-not-working-on-axpert-inverter/?do=findComment&comment=2436 Now that I search, they don't seem to be as common as the correct "Mecer" spelling. For a long time your signature has been: @Coulomb Oh dear..... yes it is Mecer rather than Mercer amazing what I miss..... sorry to cause all the confusion. I think there was a Mercer computer in the 1980s and if only I looked. I have a magnetic whiteboard stuck to the inverter and it covers the branding.
December 13, 20177 yr @Coulomb my two inverters are branded Proline Energy. Proline is the re-brand name used by Pinnacle, a local importer/distributor of computer and related equipment and is listed on the JSE. Since your firmware works perfectly, I suppose it is reasonably safe to assume that they are in all likelihood genuine Voltronics inverters.
