What is best of Max1 and Max2? My impression from threads is Max1 is more tried and solid, is that true? What is the newest of 7.2k and 8k model? What model is changing firmware more often?
August 16, 20232 yr Hey guys out of interest, on this topic...The MAX 7.2 or OG7.2 is the most bullet proof. I have seen way too many OG10s with damaged IGBTs and MOSFETs. In fact this week alone was another 2 X OG10s with the same issue. F09 Bus soft start fail. Meaning probably the AC side has sustained some damage. The evolution of the machine was that the MAX 7.2 was used as a prototype into the greater than 5kW market. The engineers made a masterpiece. They were so happy with it that they in some markets made the OG10 or MAX 10 & in some the MAX 11. The only problem with these bigger capacity machines is that as @BritishRacingGreenhas told me the MAX 7.2 has the exact same Main board but they have just placed larger capacitors. Now only placing larger capacitors doesn't mean the machine is not being stressed beyond its design. In my honest opinion the masterpiece is the 7.2. & I some markets the MAX2 which is rated at 8kW. Once they decided to go above 8kW the machine life span was compromised. So yes it can deliver 10kW sustainable but it will do that with a shorter lifespan. Maybe @BritishRacingGreencan share his wisdom on the subject. Very interesting enough I saw a Mecer MAX 11kW specimen the other day that had some questionable problems. Like it could not blend power in SUB mode. So for clean good firmware I'd stick to Segen products like the Kodak range. Further to the point why does Segen solar warranty the OG7.2 for 5 yrs Vs 2 yrs for the OG10. Makes for an interesting coincidence.

August 16, 20232 yr They all made by Voltronics. However, some are knock offs and are clones. Depends in which market you in. One can I'd identify a clone by the side sticker.

The general theory is the MAX7. 2 was Voltronics's shoe-in to the family of higher power machines and as a result it is overdesigned for its rating at 7.2kW. I can vote for the pure robustness of the MAX7. 2 and at home I spare little dirty loads from it. From felling large trees under load with electric chainsaw over 50 metres of cable from the machine to all sorts of power tools. It struggles with my air compressor startup but will immediately recover. And the MPPTs can also deliver. Machine inner must be kept dust free and fan filters especially. Admittedly environmental conditions like temperature are good here on the highveld and I try to stay below or at 5kw, but there are occational surges. EDIT: also the entire front cover is removed which gives further good airflow, but thats not the reason why its open. The MAX fell victim to the Durban floods disaster and was submersed in mud. So I am still babysitting it after I repaired the traumatised machine. But it has passed all tests and the cover will be back on soon, or probably never, it grew on me like it is. Ok, so the Voltronic Axpert Max 7.2 is overdesigned for it's rating? Seems like Max 8.0 is a better choice if I want more power? AT +-R20000 i still think they are good value for money. The specs is very close to the 8.0 , looks like you "score" 800W maybe, rest looks the same?
