Any idea why these 555w Longi solar panels are so cheap?

Yip, prices have come down nicely.
You can now get 12 panels for the same price I paid for my original 8

For me this now becomes a decision of whether I save a bit and go for the Longi 555W panels or do I pay a little more and go for the Jinko 555W panels?

Difference on 5 panels is only R1250 though.

Delivery cost, not sure how much LM are charging, but SIWSA charged me R600 to deliver my panels

Same with me, Leroy want to charge me R300 for delivery - so even more of a savings.

R1550 savings if I go Longi - almost enough to get a 6th panel. lol

Aug 2021 I paid R3000 for JA 535W panels on a special. Normal price then was around R3300.
These specials now on the ~550W panels should be on anyone's list that is considering solar.

I agree, but at least you have also been enjoying the use of those panels for majority of the year. I also feel that way when I recently got mine at a very good price but still a little more than these.

 

Remember though, pricing could just as well continued to go up since you got yours (I am telling myself that to feel better haha)

Well it did for a while in the last year, prices spiked with the implosion of Eskom, demand spiked, but since then the supply and availability has caught up, and maybe even overshot the demand. I don't think the low prices will last. At some point everyone who can reasonably afford to be in the market for these panels will be served from this cheap stock and be sorted for the next 20 years.

Certainly. You can't even put a price on not having loadshedding for 8 months.

100% agree, in hindsight i am sure the extra cost to keep the quality of life up was worth it.

Very sad…did mine end of May, looked at my quote now it was R3464 per panel ex Vat. Also for the 555w Longi’s

 

But then like some of the other guys are saying 0 days of load shedding plus not throwing away as much cash to Eskom…is the offset, right? 🫠

Hi...how do these panels perform during day and when it gets night time...

If only there inverters and batteries would drop just as drastically

Yeah guys Panel prices are crazy cheap. Well relatively. Just imagine the cost of manufacture if they selling at such low prices. It's actually weird at the moment because the prices are at an all time low & yet but nobody is installing. 

Maybe as you guys have said, low demand due not bad loadshedding & oversupply. The Commercial work is saving stacks on prices at the moment. Some customers of mine in the region of R200k due to lower prices as were quoted 4 months ago. 

The residential markets are stagnant. Maybe ppl waiting for prices to bottom out. But how low can we go here is the real question...

Depending on what brands you buy, even Inverter prices on the Luxpower and Growatt range have dropped, not as drastically as the ~550W panels, but there are some savings to be made. And there are quite a few new Li battery brands in the market in the 5kWh range that are reasonably priced too.
