May 16, 20242 yr My inverter is installed in my garage and during summer it gets quite hot in Bloemfontein. When you park a hot car in there it gets even hotter. I realized the Inverter DC side reached temperatures of near 90 degrees during midday. I installed 3 x 120mm computer fans on top with a temperature controller switching the fans on and off. The thermistor is attached to the heatsink. The heatsink temperature is about 20 degrees below the internal temperature indicating by the app. With the fans the temperature stays below 60 degrees. I 3D printed the bracket and bought the temperature controller from an online store for under R200 with a 12V powersupply. May 17, 20242 yr My two inverters are installed inside a cupboard in a spare room, herewith are my battery and inverters temps in the last 30 days.

January 12, 20251 yr @Benji Thanks for sharing your files. I see you use a temperature controller to switch the fans on. 1. Are you pushing the air down or pulling the air up behind the Sunsynk inverter? 2. Where have you placed the Temp sensor? 3. If you are pulling the air up, did you add fans at the bottom to push the air up to help? 4. Can the Temp controller be connected to the Sunsynk Inverter to measure the temperature? I like to see people's comments on this.
January 12, 20251 yr Author Hi It pushes the air up. No fans at the bottom. The thermistor is placed on the heatsink. It works well. The internal temperature never exceeds 60 degrees. In summer my garage temperature easily exceeds 35 degrees Edited January 12, 20251 yr by Benji

February 1, 20251 yr You can literally zip tie the fans together and lay them directly on the heatsink on top to pull the hot air up.
February 1, 20251 yr I had the exact in mind. Haha. The fans blow towards their mounting. So the open end of the fan will be laying on the heatsink. Thinking up something that they don't get stuck in the fins. Hmmm. J

Used polystyrene to "seal" the sidesLaptop cooler approx 35c - 45c. (R629.00 Used cellphone 5v 1A power supply)Sold the DIY cooler for R1000.00. (Had to include labor. 🤑)The laptop cooler has been running non stop since 7 Dec' 2024 (Silent)IMO it's better to blow air up from the bottom than sucking it up from the top.Garthox wants to run Home Assistant. July 5Jul 5 These inverters have fans so I guess better to blow air up it from the bottom with plenty of space as not to obstruct it's designed cooling.
