November 14, 20241 yr I need to purchase a power supply that can charge single LFP cells. Is there any preferred place in Cape Town to get this type of power supply or is it a Takealot special to get one?
November 15, 20241 yr Good day, I think a adjustable power supply will be the best bet, 0 - 30v and 10A max, you could charge from one to 8 Lfp cells in series. alternatively I use a cheap 3A buck converter (=- R50) with just about any power supply, battery charger or laptop charger that have a higher output voltage than what you require then connect the buck converter to the charger and fine tune the output voltage of the buck converter to your exact requirement

I wouldn't unless you have a BMS connected... 43 minutes ago, henryuan said: If you have multiple 3.2V LFP batteries, you can connect them in series and charge them together, such as 4S1P LFP battery pack, you can charge it with a 14.6V lfp charger. same sentiment as above... If you are charging individual cells, you can charge more than one of the same chemistry (does not have to be the same capacity), by paralleling up the cells and charging with 3.55V to 3.6V, no need to try and get that last 0.05% out of the cell by pushing it to 3.65V, I would probably not bother about going past 3.55V, since the energy to be had thereafter is less than 1%, I'm pretty certain and only shortens the life of the cells... The adjustable PSU is probably a good route of going, try Communica in Paarden Eiland. Edited December 11, 20241 yr by Kalahari Meerkat

December 11, 20241 yr It all depends what the LFP cells look like, if it is a 18650 or similar cells then you muse either be able to put the cells into the charger or have a holder where a single, two, three or four cells can be put in and charged. If the cell is a high capacity cell and has bolt terminals then i would suggest this charger https://optimate-battery-charger.co.za/shop/optimate-lithium-4s-9a-5s-7a/
