HI All

I have a 8kw Deye inverter, 14 x JA 550w panels and 3 x Deyness 5,12 kw batteries.

I have set my Battery Capacity at 300Ah, Max A Charge and Discharge at 150A based on research.

With these settings and Batt Mode on Lithium I get a charge of approx 2,66Kw on a good sunny day from my panels ( I understand this to be managed by the BMS)

When I change my Batt Mode to 'use batt V' or Use batt %' the battery charge20250817_114320.jpg rate alomost doubles to abot 5-6Kw.

Why does the setting ubnder lithium charge so slowly? How could I get the batteries to charge faster with BMS?

Thank you @Sidewinder I do not think tgatcwill solve it.

When to Use it

You should only use the "Active Battery" function in a situation where your lithium-ion battery is completely discharged, the BMS has shut down, and the inverter is unable to charge it.

Important Safety Note: This is a last-resort tool for a very specific problem. It should not be used in normal operation. Leaving it enabled could potentially bypass certain safety checks and is not recommended. Once the battery has been successfully "woken up" and is charging normally, you should disable the "Active Battery" setting again.

On a Deye inverter's Li BMS screen, communication with three Dyness batteries in parallel is indicated by the total capacity and current rating in your case charge current limit 150A and discharge current 150A. You should see the total rated discharge current for three batteries (e.g., 150A for three 50A batteries), not just one, and the listed total capacity should be three times the individual battery's capacity. If you only see a single battery's capacity and a lower discharge limit, it indicates a communication failure or incorrect wiring between the master battery and the slave batteries.

I'm assuming your 3 batteries are interconnected, data wise and connected to the inverter, but it seems the 50A Limits apply to one battery and this could be an inverter firmware problem, or a battery firmware problem... for now, I suggest you use batt V mode, with a charge Voltage of 56.5V and a current limit of 150A...

I had exactly the same problem with my 8KW Deye and 3 batteries topping out at 50Amp charge rate, Last week I restarted the batteries and the inverter and my issue went away now charging much faster not sure what caused this.

You could also check the dip switch settings on the batteries. Someone in a previous thread had the issue that the dip switches were wrong, so the batteries were not set up correctly as master and slave(s).

I would check this first before changing the wiring on the batteries, considering that you say it works fine as expected when the inverter is operating in Voltage mode.

The issue is, the inverter can only "see" one of your batteries via the BMS.

Setting to anything wolithout the BMS active compromises warranty on batteries apparently.

Ok, so. talk to supplier, I'd suggest, since there is obviously a problem somewhere, whether its with the comms cabling between the batteries or the settings on the batteries themselves (dip switches, I assume) or a "feature" in either the batteries' or the Inverters firmware, it needs to be identified and fixed, so you can have your guarantee honoured, but just as an aside... if you set the charging Voltage to that which the BMS told the inverter... see your screenshot... 56.5V, then the current accepted by the batteries for charging is still under the BMS control, it will not, for instance, allow 200A per battery to flow, even if it were to be available, so in the short term, there certainly should be no harm that could come to your batteries, until the real problem is eliminated and then you can use Lithium battery type without any problems, I'd hope.

Problem solved. I did a Firmware update on the Deye inverter. That did not help and the problem remained.

I then called Deyness and they inspected the network cables being used. They advised me to change the cables and that did the trick.

150A charge and discharge. Solar panels are working and producing and storing at the optimuim with Batt set to Lithium.
