January 19, 20206 yr Mine does the same thing. However, I just need to reconnect the wifi rather than restart the inverter. However, I'm using a really cheap wifi repeater so I'm no convinced it's entirely the inverter.
January 19, 20206 yr I have had mine for 2 months, the wifi worked initially then went dead! The module was replaced but I have not fitted it yet. The wifi module is a point of weakness on the inverter, they should have a LAN port as backup, without the wifi you cant monitor or set any operating values...

Hi Mojo How do you restart your Goodwe 5048 ? Switch DC (PV and batteries) off and then AC off. Then DC and AC back on ? BTW there is a wifi reset button but it is behind a screwed on plate... but i have not tried this as it is easier just to cycle the unit down and up.
January 20, 20206 yr I had that problem for a while. Eventually a WiFi firmware upgrade sorted it. The problem never was that the inverter wouldn't connect to my wifi - it always did. It just seemed to get into a mode in which it wouldn't transmit to the portal.
January 27, 20206 yr It's such pity that the Goodwe 5048 unit does not have a RJ45 LAN port. Then we would be able to run a network cable to the router and lose the hassles of having to use the intermittent wifi ....

Yes, all power inputs need to be switched off. BTW, when the Goodwe is in this state, pressing the wifi button does not restore WIFI. In my instance, the actual WIFI LED turns off. SO the wifi AP no longer broadcasts ( Solar Wifixxxxxx). January 31, 20206 yr Author There's one more experience that I must share with the Goodwe ES5048. When running in Backup Mode ( Grid offline) it cannot run a Speed Queen 8.2kg Top Loader with 2 x 2.4kwh PylonTechs. Interestingly, before I had the Pylons, I had 4 105ah SLAs and it ran the washing machine fine. However it runs an 1800 watt vacuum clean without a problem. When trying to run the washing machine, it trips and auto restarts the backup output. Edited January 31, 20206 yr by Moe Joe

Probably, but that will cost R13k, ideally it will be nice to try one before buying.

This is a defect on the firmware it seems as 2 x Pylons are capable of delivering 50A which is more than enough. We installed 1 more Pylon making it 3 in total and guess what, it still did not work.

Yes I did not dispute the fact that your inverter is capable of running the load, all that I alluded to was the fact that you are under powered on the battery side for the size of your inverter. It was also mentioned on the forum that warranty claims they tend to check if you have sized the backup correctly. The SLA batteries have a higher discharge rating most likely compared to the pylontechs that you have, perhaps why it was running fine previously. If you are convinced that it is not due to your load being out of spec for the batteries, then yes you could have some other issue. I am not familiar with the setup of the Goodwe and Pylontechs, all that I know from a Victron perspective is that you can see the charge and discharge limits communicated from the batteries and the Inverter stays within those parameters. You have to also input the total AH for the bank. Are you able to see this on the Goodwe side and after adding the 3rd battery did it increase the charge/discharge limits? Any warnings on batteries or on the Inverter?
April 19, 20206 yr Author There is however, changing that makes no difference. The vendor has access to more settings remotely and they are able to adjust it to get it to work.
January 17, 20224 yr I have had my Goodwe now for over 5 years. First with 500AH lead Acid bank and now with 24kwh Lithium. So far the unit does what it says on the box. However, there is a couple of small issues that Goodwe cannot resolve. I would like to limit my grid output to 100W, so that my pre-paid meter does not trip. They have been promising software changes, but nothing! The PV Master app seems problematic. You change parameters and the inv wants to be restarted, but the changes does not reflect. Sometimes you have to do the changes multiple times for it to stay permanent. SEMS Portal is a great toll, but I find it difficult to make changes.
