That's not good. I was about to recommend it for a client... Please keep us posted.
May 14, 201610 yr Author I am taking it back on Monday, either want a replacement unit or a refund..... so in a meantime i have started firing up the twins.......
May 14, 201610 yr Sorry to hear your Infini has not lived up to expectation. I suppose they have just lost dozens of sales. Mike since you have scratched Infini off the list what would you recommend for a 6-8 kW single phase install? jdp is your unit behaving itself? Since I no longer use the Axpert's LCD screen my boy confidently tells me the inverter is not working any more. I pointed out if you look carefully one sees that it indeed is on and working. P.S. I like those drawers I have a 16 X 5 set on my desk.
May 14, 201610 yr Author Chris i am not 100% sure of the route i am going to use, perhaps the Renasola5kw ( goodwe relabeled ) or maybe A GTI and a Victron thereby creating my own hybrid... i really am not sure I am so disappointed but i hope i just have had a dud unit and i can try them again. I must say, that this could have been all avoided had Mustek technicians done a diagnostic test and just read the fackin logs.....think i am more pissed at them. Boils down to non qualified people selling product. Computer shops are not the place for inverter sales really???

No I use to look at lots of settings but Ed has ported them all to SolarMon/SolarWeb and so I have switched the LCD off. I use to have it backlight all the time and on specific useful menus. Daniel, my boy as only recently noticed it is permanently switched off. It has been since Dec 2015.
June 15, 201610 yr Author After all this time, the supplier has agreed to refund / credit me for the value of the Infini 5kw. 2 months later still was not replaced / repaired.... Now the spanner in the works, I might just have enough for a "Blue" 8kva 48v Victron, but will have to just keep it in the box as i would need to do some work to purchase the colour control and at least one MPPT

The BBB is nice, but the Rpi is cheaper and touch screen modules are available that I've already sorted out at work. It will work just fine for people who don't have the can-bus controllers, though the ve-direct usb-serial cables will likely make up for the difference in cost quite quickly. So if this one also does that I will take it up with them and point them to this thread. I still love the unit, dislike with a serious bad taste in the mouth the quality of backup offered. My bad was i had to deal with Rubicon who purchased from Mustek, so it made it difficult, had to address the Consumer protection act to get them moving. I think the biggest of issue is too many folk are selling the Axpert/ Infini and no one can offer the required backup, I mean for Voltronic wanting to send me the fan set to replace was kind of them but they dont know me, but i can work on a R45k product that is 1 month old.....i think that is where the problem lies, they have grown to quick in the last year at the expense of quality control

As matter of interest, have you tried running this unit without batteries in grid-tie only mode, and turning a meter back?

You don't need the accreditation to run the meter backwards - if "feedback to grid" is enabled and either PV power is more than load and charging power or option to "feed back using battery power" is enabled, the inverter feeds into the grid and the meter spins backwards.

But we still need accredited inverters in order to be complaint, no?

Now how can i promote the product knowing what type of service you could expect? I do not want my clients having to go through what i as the installer had to.However i still hope that mine was just the dud one, but i cannot get myself to get another one now.... have a look at the replus OR GOODWE it is 5kw hybrid but fanless, one massive heatsink and ip65

I would like to install this for a client, or perhaps the Goodwe / Replus units, but there's no Replus 5000 TL anymore. And I also don't want to sit with an angry client cause the unit failed.

My latest pricelist shows 3000TL only, and I spoke to someone on the phone (not Joe) who confirmed no more 5Kw. Will try get hold of Joe again tomorrow. He did say though that the 3KW is stackable.
