Axpert Inverter Noisy?

Featured Replies

I removed those filters, but depends on the dust you have.

We have only ultrafine powder from the desert, that passes the pads without any effect.

Without the pads the airflow is better.

I now installed the Noctua NF-8 FLX with airflow from the bottom to the top.

Before installing the new fans I found that the uppermost heatsink (DC/DC converter?) was very hot.

To solve this problem I installed a third Noctua with seperate 12V supply. It´s now running permanently with 2000rpm.

The heat accumulation in the top of the chassis has been solved and noise dropped down dramatically

Fan on utility Keep running (right fan) I don`t think it is run at 30% , it is so loud and noisy

is there Firmware for this Model for fix loud running or anything else I can do?
Thank you

No, these small models don't seem to have PWM controlled fans.

No, firmware can't fix this.

You can replace the fan(s) with quieter ones, preferably with a silicone mounting kit for extra quietness. Noctua make suitable fans. You might have to rewire the plug; fan pinouts are not completely standardised (there are several incompatible standards).

Does the same hold true for Axpert V Value models (3000VA/2400W)? Datasheet attached.

I don't have any firmware for these models, so I can't be sure.

But my guess is yes, inexpensive fan control seems to be one of the hallmarks of the VM models.

Edit: that means I'm not sure about the original poster's model, as his is clearly called a VM model.

I replace Original Fan (0.60A) with (0.18), it is can do the job with a little noise.
I think 1KW firmware need fix for fan, temp, measures, solar input, charging speed and many things...

no problem but I thought it is a better of that but still good enough for me.

and like any company it is support only new products for few months or no support at all.

@Axpert I have the RCT Axpert VM 2000W and the fan was killing me. It would turn on at 40deg and only stop once going below 20deg (which is impossible here in summer). I found a different solution than new fan/firmware. I bought this PWM controller:

https://www.banggood.com/12V-DC-PWM-2-3-Wire-Fan-Temperature-Control-Speed-Controller-Noise-Reduction-Module-p-1811340.html?cur_warehouse=CN

Brilliant little 2/3 pin PWM module. I now have it set to come on at 45deg and ramp up to full speed by 65deg. Idles at around 43-47 so the fan is off or really slow most of the time, waaay better than full speed all the time! Hope it helps!

(Better instructions for how to configure the thing can be found here)

Thank @LoganD , just got myself one of these. I did read the amazon post but still not 100% confident. Please can you share a pic and maybe a short guide on setting to your parameters. Thanks again

I think the fans are not that noisy but the the fan grid is obstructing the air flow and hence causing the loud noise. So changing the fans will not be of great effect unless the grid holes are widened, somehow? or removed.

I changed the fans (see my post above) and the result is perfect.

If you want to make the ventilation unhearable, use anti-vibration mounts and cut out the the grids.

AND...clean the fans frequently

More investigation on this topic:

When the device is in battery mode - ie, no input at all from PV or utility and running on batteries, the fans switch off during low loads. (my tests were under 15%) Keeping the load constant, I found that the internal temperature of the unit did not surpass 42deg C. The fans did not come on at all.

I dropped the load to minimum - 0% - 1Ah - and found the internal temperature drops further to 37deg c where is sits happily. I left the unit like this for about 24 hours, and the fan did not come on at all.

So far, the fans are only constant during the charge and float of the batteries, and internal temperature above 40deg C.. (both PV and utility)

I have an RCT AXVM1. 12V 1000W.  For me it seems the fan on/off is directly related to load.

I was in loadshedding. Running my PC setup off battery, fans came on. Temp was around 35 deg. If I locked my PC and the screens went off, the reduced load meant that the fans went off. Soon as I came back and unlocked the PC, fans spun up again.

Not sure if there is something I can do about this? I just feel like the fans spin up prematurely.

Здравствуйте, помогите с ремонтом.У меня есть axpert vm 2000-24.
Плата управления и процессор сгорели дотла.Нужна прошивка для нового процессора.Может быть, кто-нибудь поделится.

I have the same RCT VM1 unit but my fans almost NEVER go off. The only time its ever gone off completely was when I had just a fan plugged into the output (~60W)

I'm going to mod mine because at this point I cant move it to a garage/outside so I need it to be quiet.

This is my solution for the noisy fans of the MKS-II, it isn't cheap, but extremely good, there is basically zero noise anymore. The only issue when upgrading to those silent fans is the screwy pinout of the fan connectors of the MKS-II, some pins have to be swapped, but no bigger deal, the NF-A8s comes with some extension cables which can be misused for that purpose, so the connectors of the fans themselves can remain as they are. Mine are perfectly running since about 3 years by now, and I'm just upgrading to an Axpert VM-III, and the same issue there, so the fans will now move to that inverter.

Did you end up upgrading the axpert vmiii? How are the noctua NF-A8's holding up with heavy load?
