Mounting Pylontech batteries vertically?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Is there an issue with mounting Pylontech batteries vertically with a mount similar to the one attached? I have 2 x us2000 batteries that I want to mount and would prefer the vertical mount of possible? Takes up less space and would be neater.

Would the be any warranty/guarantee issues?

Thanks

Regards

Robert

The manual for the US3000's says you can mount two of them "sidelong".  I can't imagine that it would make a difference if you want to mount more of them this way?

My batteries were initially mounted vertically until they grew in number and did not fit inside the cabinet any more.  They are now mounted horisontally, mostly because the battery rack was designed to be placed like that...

Hi Robert

The Pylons contain pouch cell and are not filled with a liquid electrolyte so you can mount in orientation obviously the battery to battery links will need to be long enough.

Prismatics, from what i have read, should be mounted with the air vent facing upwards.

Regarding the warranty, in the unlikely event that you had to return it, they would be unaware that the battery had been mounted vertically ? 😬

If you look at the Dyness "Powerwall" type wall mounted solution you will see that those batteries are mounted vertically e.g. https://www.ellies.co.za/product/dyness-li-ion-powerbox/

I asked pylontech the same question.. Their only issue was to make sure that dust did not get into the connectors/plugs.

When you register your batteries for warranty on the pylontech site, they ask for a picture of the installation...

I mounted mine, on a custom made bracket/console, with buttons up and covered the CAN, the R485 and the Link 0,1 ports just with a piece of black isolation tape temporally (to prevent dust getting in) until I made the top cover - I still have to cover the sides as well (see photo).  I design and built the bracket/console to accommodate 2 x 3.5kWh Pylontechs and made provision for airflow (even with the cover on the top).
