I dont have a Power4Less inverter but have a Sunsynk.
While idling, the inverter uses about 60watts per hour. Much the same you are seeing.

Hi everyone. I'm looking for the lid / top cover of a Luxpower SNA5000 WPV. Hopefully someone has a faulty unit collecting dust. Preferably in Durban so I can collect. My client damaged the buttons below the LCD. Let me know how much you want for it as well. Thanks.

I thought there might finally be a solution so I ordered 5 of them on the 6th June:

    https://www.geewiz.co.za/smart-plugs-switches/215619-geewiz-ewelink-wifi-smart-plug-16a-south-african-power-ac-plug-socket-works-with-alexa-google-home-now-with-energy-monitoring-meter.html

They have arrived and after trying them I read this review posted the day after my order:

Had I known it was this bad, and not just a couple percent off, which I was hoping was meant by: "*Please note that the energy measurement is just an estimate and might not be an accurate measurement." then I would not have purchased them.
I had tried a Tuya version before (Connex variant) which was a little bit off, but decided that having yet another smart home app, especially one as bad as the Tuya was not worth it and returned that also. I would have been fine with a little inaccuracy for finally having a Ewelink solution.
Between the 5 units for the same 2000W heater on the same setting:
    5099W
    5904W
    3531W
    1553W
~2500W (forgot to screenshot this one)
It's a nice product barring this one critical flaw. If all you need to know if there is something drawing power then great, but if you are OCD like me then don't bother

McGuywer reacted to GreenFields in Is Sunsynk still an option?
Respectfully disagree on one or two points, open to correction.
As was pointed out, Sunsynk and Deye have the same hardware and functions, so the improved software is not necessarily indicative of greater savings.
Also, why would a greater pass-through current lead to greater savings? The greater pass-through is what allows you to use more GRID POWER on your essential loads, which is great if you need it, but where is the saving?
It just sounds like "maximum savings" is a catch-all phrase to say why bigger is better, without analysing the user's needs and situation.

Quick update. So I've had zero issues with the Mecer 200AH + RCT Axpert 1kw combo, and only managed to run it down once recently when I accidentally bumped the power plug out of its socket without noticing.
Upgrading to a fully installed Deye system now, but I can HIGHLY recommend this for running TV and other electronics, I even had a fridge/freezer connected to it.

The only caveat is that it's VERY noisy, so it needs to be installed in a garage or far away from people.

Lets see tomorrow who the random number gen selects tomorrow! Damn that water valve goodie is really cool! 😆

McGuywer reacted to Marius2001 in Operating a Gate Motor Remotely
    Hi,

First is to flash the ESP8266 with Tasmota - I've actually used the online version and seems to work quite well.
You will need a USB adapter to perform this - check the Youtube as you need to solder 2 pints in order to perform a flash else it will be Read-Only.
    https://www.botshop.co.za/shop/mod-144-usb-to-esp8266-adapter-board-esp-01-boards-1588?search=esp8266

For some reason I had to use the [Inversed] relay, but believe normally it should be relay_i

Then some rules - there are quite normal on single-relay ESP8266 but got this from my device.
    "Rules":"on System#Boot
    do Backlog Baudrate 115200; SerialSend5 0 endon

    on Power1#State=1 do SerialSend5 A00101A2 endon
    on Power1#State=0 do SerialSend5 A00100A1 endon
    "}}

And then the pulsetime command ; this is to release the relay after x milli-seonds ; the esp8266 should only "signal" to open, should not keep the relay open.

    Hope this helps!

    Update:

    I am an idiot

So i took it to Nice in Observatory, they were super helpful, stuck the board in a dummy motor and it worked fine. They then asked me if i was testing the gate with the board outside the black housing, which i was. This was the cause of all my issues as there is a sensor in the black housing and another on the board. They need to pick each other up so the board knows the gate is connected. If its not it goes into error mode.

Came home, screwed the board down, and all is working. Inching mode is set to 1 sec, which seems to work better than 0.5 for me. All works great.

Don't know your math, but... if you want R/km, then you need to say R 1650 / 2150 km and end up with cents/km, not what you ended up with which really is 1.3km / R...

For those that don't have the means to fork out cash, but have the time to input into getting a smart control system setup for the Axpert Series of inverters:

Jblance Mpp-Solar (Github) has open source communications for the MPP-Solar inverters based on the Axpert units (tested working on Axpert MKS II (Mecer Sol-I-AX-5NB)

You will need a raspberry pi or other linux box to connect to(you can use either serial out on inverter or USB out)
Install your home assistant on the pi or other linux box that you use, along with the MPP-SOLAR programs from github, the install instructions are on the github repo.

Once setup configure your mpp-solar to output your inverter info to hass-mqtt (instructions on the github repo)
This will allow you to read the inverters sensors to display and use in home assistant
Now the data is passed to Home Assistant, but we cant change source priority on the fly.

What I then did was write a small mqtt client using paho mqtt, that listens to topics for Source Priority.
When Solar is triggered the topic Solar is posted to the client and action of running solar.sh script is run, this triggers sending the command to mpp-solar and switches to solar the same goes for utility and SBU modes.
Now Home Assistant can switch between the output source priorities on the fly, and you can then setup automation's that will switch when for example battery drops or when battery charge is sufficient
My Home Assistant is currently setup to switch to solar if its 1 hour after sunrise, and battery is above 90% if criteria are not met it will remain on utility, and for lower end on battery it will switch from whatever source its set to to go back to utility when it drops to 70% at any point, this can be changed at any time by editing the automation on home assistant.
I will be adding smart switches to some loads, thus when grid goes down you can program non-essentials to power down automatically to conserve battery power, one could then have sensors like thermometers that can be put in freezers that monitor internal temps, and switch the freezers back on if temps go above a certain threshold.
I will be adding motion sensors throughout the house for lights, that will check for movement, and if no movement in 15min detected, to automatically switch lights off.

    1. Read up on config packages here - config-packages
    2. Save the code above in a "package" file
    3. Add your elements to your HA dashboard

If your inverter's mode (load_limit sensor) is set to "Zero export" and your inverter's CT sensor is working, then total_grid_import is very close. If you set load_limit to only essentials or to export then the inverter does not include the non-essential power draw. Why you should ask Sunsynk, but so far, they have told us to update the inverter firmware, without any success.
