  1. Not to discount the advice, but this does sound kind of like "Buying a new car because the old one's tyres are old" Better inverters can squeeze a bit more out or read more accurately,or have better apps, but if your sole reason is batteries that's not a good reason to upgrade I'm also running dual Axperts on Voltage-mode with Hubble batteries in a bank,so not a dissimilar architecture to the suggestion above
  2. Good catch, just confirm the voltages on the panels and party hard!
  3. Sent!
  4. The Axperts can't be that bad necessarily? 1/2 MPPT per inverter? You would get some cost on the panels back by selling and upgrading some rather than convoluting by adding extra cost for a MPPT and busbar setup + new panels
  5. SolarAssistant has an MQTT Broker you can query and respond to using automations, not sure what Sunsynk offers
  6. You didn't specify how many MPPTs you have,or inverters/or batteries,so i'll assume what you have is full and you have a battery/bank If that's the case, you need to either 1) upgrade/parallel the inverter to allow extra string(s) 2) Replace 1/all string of panels with upgraded ones 3) Add a busbar, extra charge controller and join the new set of panels/old set to this to charge the batteries direct You can probably find a buyer for your used panels easy enough should you want to start replacing
  7. Could I ask why the top-up instead of just switching to Utility then? Due to the efficiency loss when charging you'd be expending ~10% more power charging and discharging from mains rather than just using mains and extra cycles on the batteries with no savings attached
  8. Settings changes based on particular parameters/time Daily schedules EskomSePush integration to change settings
  9. In device manager does the cable install correctly and add an extra "Port" Often the cheaper cables are "Clones" that make the original drivers unhappy and they need to be manually installed
  10. Just clarify with the vendor for warranties in Voltage-regulated mode, but i'm not aware of any brand particularly that refuses to service that
  11. You'd need to make up an injector combo to use it direct on a 48v camera
  12. Cameras directly you can power using some of the 48v POE capable Micro-UPSes that Uniterm Direct sells https://shop.dbg.co.za/mups45w8-8ahg.html
  13. You probably won't be superheating your pool with either method in a rapid time, also not sure how much KW excess solar you have - it's more an experiment in expending excess energy. Much like using Heatpumps you'd generally start your process days/weeks ahead to heat up a few degrees
  14. Canbus is not the end-all,you can reliably run many lithiums on Voltage-only and defer your next upgrades to the inverter/mppt as needed
  15. Pex Pipe Coils for a DIY Solar heater and a diverter from pool pump to run pump through the heaters during the day? Similar to rooftop solar water heaters That or Titanium Electric Heat Exchangers to literally boil your pool water slowly (or immersion heaters like this: https://www.amazon.com/Immersion-Stainless-Suspension-Submersible-Inflatable/dp/B094ZQZ49H/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=intex+pool+heater&qid=1665591298&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI2LjI4IiwicXNhIjoiNS40OCIsInFzcCI6IjQuNTAifQ%3D%3D&sr=8-8 )
  16. From what I can gander the MLT is lithium capable,at worst maybe via Voltage, still should be doable Same with the MPPT Do they not have Float and Bulk voltages in the 50's?
  17. Perhaps a discount-tradein for counterfeits(cost-price?) or bounty for reports that lead to prosecution would generate extra customer favour in this regard
  18. Generally best health is maintaining ~75% but this varies a bit up and down Safe bet is don't charge to max,or leave it at max for long
  19. General answer: Assume your 5KW inverter can(generally) provide a Maximum of 5KW,either from PV,battery or a Mix of them Where the exception comes is some can - when there is grid power - exceed this rating, say providing up to 8k from Grid directly - called Overload Bypass Others can generally be configured to 1) Shut Down 2) Restart when overloaded (though 2 is less recommended obviously) This overload threshold is not necessarily an immediate cutoff at 5KW exactly, mine are rated for 2x rating for 5seconds,and up to 10seconds for up to 1.5x rating You can get the Loadshedder type solution to detect your current Loadshedding status on Sonoff-based automation and act accordingly, like sending notifications/disabling loads through POW/Breakers etc. Same can be done if ratings are exceeded or near so,but you'd need to read that usage through a high-amperage Sonoff in line with the inverter Alternative is using HA and "localizing" the logic and functions that your Sonoffs can action

There's always a slight leech from the inverter that will slowly drain batteries when they aren't being charged At night I have a ~2A charge setting to keep mine topped up
  21. Your biggest ROI and savings is using as much sun power as possible, dumping excess to battery and then using that battery when sun power isn't available Shuffle all the big loads to the daytime to use that solar, pool pump/washing machines/geysers If you have to choose between battery charging or usage during the day, usage should take precedent as you're not losing any power to conversion to/from battery and a battery cycle. Decide on a % of battery that's your minimum to save for outages/load shedding, and use anything above that after hours Some management systems can be configured to change settings based on Time of Day+Battery SOC to reserve a margin % and use the rest like Solar Asssistant
  22. One thing you can look at to manage your battery for maximum ROI while maintaining charge for loadsheds - SolarAssistant with the Maintain SOC setting - the % and times assumes that I will either be loadshed or power will be out till 8am when panels will take over. As the night progresses if there was no outage or the loadshedding was extended it switches between utility and battery If there is an issue with cloud for the day i'll switch to Utility charge to build battery before the daytime sessions
  23. Might want to add your location - helps with sales

Either disable the possible big loads alltogether with smart-plugs or a smart-breaker to cut that load side if it breaches the limit
