"Kragdag" Expo in Pretoria area
As a matter of interest; You cannot register as a vat vendor anymore, unless you can prove that your turnover is more than 1 million per year. I have just been through this and got very upset, but they say " that is the law"

Functions of an Axpert
Hi Clivan, The axpert 5kva Mk11 does exactly what you want. It will use available pv and add to that grid power still required or battery power if the grid is not available.

Aexpert - which one
The Goodwe ES 4.6 is an amazing piece of equipment. I only know of one other person who ever had problems, and that being our own Mike. The unit was swopped out. I have a customer where I installed a Goodwe about I year ago, blasted his sytem in Jan this year by connecting a generator to it. I send it to the supplier for repairs and .............it was just swopped out !! I myself have 4 x 10KW infini's running in parallel for almost two years now and have not had any hassles at all. I am using ICC to monitor it and running Pylontechs, its really trouble free. Only thing is ............................. I am really at a point to un-mount them and having them sprayed blue! Thereafter I am sure they will even by running better, having the right colour !! ( Sorry boys ๐๐ )

where to find 1000A DC fuse and isolator in Gauteng?
Hi Silver Attached picture of 250amp DC Braker I have used for my installation. I feel we need to have a braker as well as fuses for a large installation. I have been in a situation where things went wrong, flames and smoke, and at that time I was so glad that I installed a dc disconnect. It saved me !! Cheers

Imeon 9.12 3-phase installation
Hi All As most of you are aware, the Imeon was replaced with an Infini 10kw about 8 months ago and still going STRONG! I have just completed the 2nd phase of the installation with 2 more Infini's and a pylontech battery bank. I have generated a total of 150 kw today !! It was partly rainy and only got the last array up and running by midday! Tomorrow I will have a much better idea of what I will generate per day. Attached a few pic's for those of you that are interested Thanks for all the help of the members !!

IMA-BOX (Imeon / Pylon Tech Connectivity)
In the long run it will actually be cheaper to buy an new inverter that can connect to Pylontech easily, than carrying on with an Imeon supplied by the Bloem crowd!

Mooilande Setup
Yes, if I'm lucky I will actually collect it tomorrow !

Mooilande Setup
We bought a hybrid 5kw last year for testing by Chris Hobson, it failed within 2 days. Returned the unit , was repaired and got it back December 2018. Not bad for a cheap inverter !!

N/S vs. E/W PV orientation
Hi Chris My panels are facing east west, with a little bit turned more to south/east than east and fitted at a 23 degree angle. Attached a graph of today's production and you can clearly see how early in the morning the west array is already active. Yes I have 2 separate MPPT's and it works very well. The negative part is that during the winter months of June - August I lose more production than what I would have if it was facing North. The ideal for me would be to have an east / west array as well as a portion of panels facing north . I am currently installing a system at my offices and is doing exactly this, I will be able to see whether my theory is correct within the next 3 - 4 weeks.

Sizing of Solar Fuses
I totally agree Jaco.! " Prevention is better than cure " After spending money on quite expensive equipment, why trying to save a few bucks? Fuses are really cheap and will make no change to the total cost of the system

Infini Inverter- Why is the air filter on the exhaust, instead of the intake?
Jaco, a Goodwe 3.6 is a very nice alternative. Features : IP65, Fanless, intelligent battery system. Pricing is almost exactly the same, but does not really like to be without the grid, although you can easily overcome this problem Something to consider, if you do not suffer from the same jealous symptoms as some of the other members Ps.This one's colour is ORANGE

Crit my idea ... pull it to pieces, I can take it.
Hi Mr T I am a firm believer in MR Google, and discovered that the colour BLUE actually represents the emotion of JEALOUSY. Need I say anything else? Yours

First Post - Assistance needed on DC switching.
attached a graph for my small array facing exactly east west @ 23 degrees. This is today's graph Penalty is that during winter ( May to end July) it actually generates less than half of that during dec to February. Interesting fact is the time when the West panels get alive in the morning !!

3 x hybrid inverters - Feed to grid ?? Help
I actually made the new ones BLACK !

3 x hybrid inverters - Feed to grid ?? Help
The inverters in this setup is 2 x 10kw Infini's in parallel and 1 x 10kw Infini stand alone. They are my own and I am actually busy setting the 2 x parallel inverters up at the moment. I think TTT and a lot of others will actually enjoy the news that my Imeon blew up 3 times now and I have actually decided to sell it as scrap metal !!! I saw it twice going up in flames ( And I actually mean it ! ) I managed to control it's temperature very well with external fans, but these beasts has actually got no built in protection whatsoever for any current overloads. No matter what the duration or the amount! Well, the bright side of things are that the Infini is doing the same job 10000% better with exactly the same setup! I appreciate all the above recommendations and will give you feedback of it as I go along Thanks again

3 x hybrid inverters - Feed to grid ?? Help
My concern is that when the grid goes off ( switched off by technician maybe) the inverters might see each other as the "grid" and keeps feeding into the grid making this dangerous for any worker on that line. If I understand correctly, the anti-islanding device in the inverter should not allow this to happen? I will be testing this shortly, but needed some assurance and input from my friends. Thanks guys

3 x hybrid inverters - Feed to grid ?? Help
Thanks Plonkie, I did the design with brakers to protect overloads from both sides. What worries me is is the following scenario. Pv is working both sides and everything is running of solar power, and the excess power is feeding into the grid. Beautiful !! The grid goes down ! Will the 2 inverters realize the grid is down, or will they see each other as the " grid " and keep on feeding into the grid ? Big problem, because it could be a technician switching the grid off for technical reasons ?? If I am right, how do I get around this problem?

3 x hybrid inverters - Feed to grid ?? Help
Hi All I need to pick the brains of all the clever guys out there. I have been asked this question this morning and would like to know what you guys opinion is out there. 2 Hybrid inverters connected in parallel with a battery bank connected and 30kw panels 1 Hybrid inverter with 15kw panels and it's own battery set in a separate house about 600 meters away from the first building. Both buildings are connected to the same Eskom connection point and both are feeding back into the grid. Is there any danger in doing a connection like this ?? I have my own opinion, but would like to know how the guys feel out there !

Axperts in parallel
Hi Chris I am impressed with the installation. Very NICE !!

Regarding downloads & Hi!
@Chris Hobson you are now officially the "ACVV" of the forum. Remember you will be rewarded for all the good things you do! I might be out of line here, but I feel that a member once registered with all the necessary information, should be allowed to participate on the forum. What is the use of having to post 15 times, a lot of !%@$#@!, and thereafter you can download. Otherwise @Chris Hobson can forward the file with a pm ???????? I really think this rule can be reconsidered and make it easier for new members Maybe the member can explain why he would like to do the download and tell the members about his installation? Thereafter any senior member can authorise his download or something like that. Just make it easier to access and a pleasant encounter for the new member. I am sure we will create more members this way!! Just my humble opinion !
