Mako got a reaction from Solar Journey in LUXPOWER SNA5000 WPV - WANTEDhttps://luxpowertek.com/support Start here. They will tell you who has stock.

Mako reacted to TaliaB in How do know if you have been issued a valid CoCAttached information on COC'S. Master electrician and installation electrician can issue COC'S if registered with deparment of Labour.

Mako got a reaction from Yellow Measure in How do know if you have been issued a valid CoCAn installation I'm helping get properly completed was done by a master electrician that will issue the COC. He cut all of the MC4 connectors off the 16 panels and used ferrules and insulation tape. Cable and joints are lying in unistrut which fill with water when it rains, no conduit. Earthing is only on four points on the unistrut of the four strings. No panels have earth connected to them directly. Flat concrete roof. A PrEng contracted them and will sign off but hasn't bothered to climb onto the roof to inspect. The homeowner is unable to climb onto the the roof and they know this.

Mako reacted to WannabeSolarSparky in Saldanha / LangebaanAFAIK each municipality sets their own rules (By Laws), you should maybe contact the Saldanha / Langebaan municipality for correct info.

Mako reacted to Scorp007 in Kwikot HP-007 Unusable due to LSheddingI nearly started wondering about settings changing due to LS. My ITS is so old it was before remotes were invented. 😜😜My controller also has a flat battery for years but does not bother as I don't need the timer to be correct. I power my heat pump down and also only give it 220V for 1h mornings and 1h afternoons.
Lucky to say no settings are lost or changing.

Mako got a reaction from Energy-Jason in Best value batteryVery happy with my 120AH Halo which has a screen to access individual cell voltages and other useful info. Price was better than all 100AH available batteries at the time. Bought from PF Store but don't see it listed at present.

Mako reacted to Dieter in Any Victron installers in Langebaan?I do not know any installlers in Langebaan but ...
Local electrician can add meter to db board and software changes can be done online, if you connected
Do you already have ESS assistant installed on the inverter ? Check under settings ,ESS
Find below some online info

Mako reacted to Hyarion in CofCT feed in tariff appears to be R1.04/kWh.I went digging for more info and did some maths when they announced it.
Quick summary of changes and unknowns for anyone interested:
CoCT will pay R1.04/kWh Net-consumer rule is apparently being dropped They are busy testing a different prepaid meter, if it passes all the tests then it will reduce the cost from R12k+ to around R5k (near the end of the interview: https://omny.fm/shows/the-john-maytham-show/cash-for-power-cape-town-gets-treasury-exemption-t) What's unknown:
Is there still a monthly fee to be allowed to feed in? i.e. the R160 mentioned in this thread (I found a R200/month mention in another thread). Is there still a limit on size of residential system to be allowed to export (i.e if I understand correctly, most residential houses are limited to 3.6kW of solar panels if they want to export?)
Doing some napkins maths, based on 2kW of spare solar power to export:
If the monthly fixed fee is dropped: You can recover the cost of the prepaid meter in just over a year.
If the monthly fixed fee is not dropped: It'll take 3-5+ years just to recover the cost of the prepaid meter.
With the fixed monthly fee, in order to recover the cost of the prepaid meter in under 2 years, one needs to reliably export 14+ kWh per day (year round - so approx. 5,000kWh per year). If there's also a limit of 3.6kW of solar panels allowed in order to export, then that means you need to be exporting 70%+ of your solar production.

Mako reacted to Bobster. in CofCT feed in tariff appears to be R1.04/kWh.Self consumption still gets half the job done. For every house that generates and consumes 10kWh, the load on the grid is reduced by that amount.
OK, better for the grid if our notional house generates 15kWh, consumes 10 and pumps 5 back into the grid. But self consumption is still a help.
They are looking at ways to cut the price of the meter. I am generally cynical about municipalities and their talk about allowing us to sell back to them, but COCT are going further than others.
Realistically, if they can significantly reduce load during the day, then they have a better chance of recharging the Steenbras system and being able to use that during peak hours. That's the key differentiator here. Joburg, for example, doesn't have any sizable storage that it can control, so they can't do as much with all that free PV power during the day.

Mako got a reaction from sproete_za in CofCT feed in tariff appears to be R1.04/kWh.Battery full by 9 am and more than 4 kilowatts (there's more as that is low sun and an almost full battery) goes to sleep for 7 hours or so. That could have earned almost R30 for today. In summer it'll easily export R900 for the month and pay for a meter in two years. Lot's of installations like this idle away for hours and hours every day.

Not here... making Yoghurt, backing baking! bread, running the pump to irrigate the garden... all using the electrons that would have not been allowed to flow otherwise...
-
Mako got a reaction from sproete_za in CofCT feed in tariff appears to be R1.04/kWh.Assuming the meter costs R10k four or five panels will pay for it in 32 months give or take.

Mako got a reaction from MarkZA79 in Deye Inverter - Load First vs Battery FirstOne might want battery first when loadshedding is due (sometimes unexpected due to schedule changes) and solar is predicted to be poor for the day.

Mako got a reaction from CarlosBebe in Solar service rental?A relative has gone the rent route and is very happy. Fully compliant, very neat and exceeding expectations. Not at all interested in getting side tracked by having to source and manage something she knows nothing about and isn't interested in.

Mako reacted to hoohloc in Luxpower or Growatt?Go for Luxpower, it has two MPPTs and if you can, go for the LXP model which can push power back to Non-essential appliances.
