Scrap battery prices are down a lot. Used to get R12 per kg for scrap batteries. Going rate is R7 to R6 per kg.

When using Epver mppt there is a rated power and a max power. This can make a big difference on the amount of panels to be installed. Up to 50% exceeding the rated power.

@Hanks77 I have a 5kW Axpert inverter with 3 x 3000 Pylontech batteries. I have 2 30Amp Epever mpptś conneted in parallel on the battery busbar. The system is running for 18 months with good results.The Epever mppt can be connected to your PC to do settings to match the BMS of the Pylontechs.

Get a DC - DC Buckconverter to connect to Inverter/battery

The pin out on the RJ45 of your cable is the same as the Voltronic , Axpert cable to a remote display they sell. You can also do settings on this panel. Pin 4 and 8 is the power supply to the remote display. Pin1 and 2 for coms. So it might be linked to voltronic. Do you have the cable DB9 to RJ45 to connect inverter to a standalone PC .

It is very expensive. Wonder if it is not possible to use Buffalo logistics. Banggood use them and the rate is much better.

Fedex charges 50 Dollar for a 2.3kg parcel 350mm x 250mm x 150mm. Then you pay 15% Vat + R150 fee for the item to clear at customs.

@Eurard do you know if the S Volt can be used with Axpert inverter without communication cable using User setting for battery.

I see they charge a setup fee of R650. It is not a installation fee. What will they need to set on the battery if it is installed on a Axpert inverter running User on battery setting.

It really makes a lot of difference if you home al the time. This is why we can run offgrid.

No the cable from the Pylontech goes to the Axpert. The Epever is set up to charge the battery to programed settings.There is a lot of parrameters in the program and controls beter than the Axpert.That is why I use the Epever as the master and the Axpert is running at 0.2v les than the Epever. The Epever does have a over voltage notification and switch of the mppt should that occur. I set the Axpert to 50A max so that the battery max Amp is not exceeded.The system is monitored by Solarassistant and running for more than 2 years without any problems. The benefits of this is that Axpert is running at a lower temperature. Power is avialable for more time during the day. Better flow of power when high loads is switched on.As we are running offgrid this is a great benefit.

I have a Axpert 5kW inverter running with 2 Epever 30A mppt on 10.5kWh Pylontech battery bank. Charge control done by Epever mppt.Axpert charging set lower to allow Epever to control the charging. Monitor with Solarassistant. Axpert 4500 Watts panels , No 1 Epever 1500 Watts ,No 2 Epever 1880 Watts. Running for 2 years with good results.

@Jethro Penny Some of the RCT Axpert inverters have a power saving mode. Check setting 04 . Set to default SdS. SEN is powersaving mode.

@Coulomb Solar assistant does display the highest and lowest voltage off the cells of each battery.This bring some comfort that I will know if something goes wrong with the batteries. The external mppt I use does also give a warning and record if safe voltage is exceeded.

@Pie visit solar-assistant.io page for a full introduction and video off solarassitant capabilities. I only use SA to read info of the batteries because I also have external mppt .The control of charging is done by the extra mppt. Al info and settings of Axpert is done by SA.

You can have the App on more than 1 phone and control the CBI from any of the phones.You only pair the CBI once and use the account for all your devices. We use 3 devices.

@Pie No problems to charge 3x Pylontech US 3000 batteries with 5 kW Axpert. Use Solarassistant to monitor the state of batteries and monitor and do settings of Inverter remotely. Battery tipe set to User. Float voltage set at 52.5v Using this setup for more than 4 years . No communication between Inverter and batteries. Can also use multiSIB software with Solarassistant cable to check battery .There is a SOP for Pylontech batteries with Axpert inverter. Reduced floatcharge from 53.2v to 52.5v for better battery life suggestion of @Coulomb

Can the Deye inverter display the SOC and cell voltages of each battery. Solarassistant gives a rapport of SOC and high and low voltages of all cells of al batteries. This should pickup bad cells or BMS fault.

This is how they charge for more than 4 years. 3 X Pylontech 3000 . Stay on 89% for 30 to 45 min depending on the charging rate .
