Looking at the possibility to match a LVS 8 with a Sunsynk 8KW but the data sheet comms only mention compatibility with the Quatro’s SME’s, Fronius, Goodwe’s. Would comms be a possibility with Sunsynk?

More Pylontech's or something else?
I think you won’t find the US2000 anymore as it’s now the new US2000C models. Adding the new model might mean a software upgrade on the old battery, Its something I heard but not sure about. I’m in the same boat thinking to add another pylon to my US3000 or go for the promising 1C batteries, however I’m a bit wary of the greener looking grass on the other side of the fence. I think the forum should have a battery swop out club where guys can swop their US2000 & 3000 for C models and vice versus to maintain the same models in their stack😃

Inverter and batteries installation location
One consideration if you install a Sunsynk, it comes with a CT coil that clips over your main incoming grid supply cable this then connects to the inverter. It comes with wires about 5 meters long. The manual say you can extend them another 10 meters with same type of wiring. This could be a potential problem for installers who honor the manual if the distance is further than the 10 meter. I was worried about that distance as mine is about 25meters, I extended my own wires with 1.5mm flat twin and it works, but just be aware of this fact.

Looks great, and looks like you got the right installer. What are the two isolators on far right hand side for?

Thanks for clearing the terminal size up, if it can only take 10mm2 wire it means a maximum of 50A circuit breaker should be used to protect the wire. Thats looking from a C.O.C perspective. The 90A pass-thru is probably more of a safety factor for the inverter design. I will query this with Sunsynk, I recently made contact with them and they seem quite eager to assist.

Thanks, that’s what I also thought, do you know if they have any application process if someone wanted to feed into the grid?

Hi Tony I’m also impressed with your drawing. Question now that you invented the wheel. QF1 & QF6 (power to and from inverter) you have 63A overload. The pass thru on 8KW unit is 90A. Do you think one could upsize to say a 80A overload and still be within the Sunsynk limits. (Wiring of course would be 25mm2 but not sure if 25mm2 would fit into Sunsynk terminals) Input will be appreciated.

I’m trying to find allowable COCT Grid charging current for 5KW and 8KW grid tie systems, does anybody have the allowable current?

Do you feel validated?
I would like to see what the daily log book looks like for unit 1 for the last 3 months. The log book will tell the real story. Or perhaps was the log book conveniently destroyed in the fire because that system was also disbanded when things got bypassed.

Earth leakage trips everytime loadsheeding ends
The regulations mostly states cooking appliances. Stoves and oven to me would fall under that category. They need to be on earth leakage unless a stove coupler is used that comply with SANS 60309-1 (google SANS 337)

Geysers must be on earth leakage see SANS 10142-1 reg 6.7.5.1.C and also stoves unless you make use of a stove coupler.

I saw one of your other installation you used the 5KW Bull with the Sunsynk, do you have a favorite between Hubble and the Bull?

Inverter and batteries installation location
The inverter could also be further away there is no regulation stating it should be close to the DB. it’s only the cable that will be longer. My inverter is just over 20meter from my DB without problems. The Sunsynk does create a bit of heat it would be best to install it where their is a bit of air circulation. Extractor fans could also work to extract the heat, only problem is you are adding a small parasitic load on the inverter that could be avoided if it’ was in a naturally cooler area.

One thing to double check is that the correct model for 230VAC or 120VAC input. Also battery voltage 12/24 or 48VDC. Maybe try to power it on another power source like the Neighbour just to confirm your earth leakage is ok.

Did this unit work before or is it the first time start up? Also is the two neutrals “ in & out” separated or joined? I doubt it has to do with any settings, it can be a very sensitive earth leakage or one of those cables you use is faulty or even the inverter is faulty.

New installation.
I paid less than R1000 and it’s worth it, only problem is if the new Sunsynk dongle under beta testing becomes available in the next few weeks or so you might want to upgrade and spend again.

I Agree with isetech the neutral connected to house neutral in seems bypassed as it goes straight to the neutral bar, I’m also thinking this neutral should maybe be connected to the house neutral out.

Sunsynk Inverter Query
Thanks I forgot about the inverter screen, lately been checking the phone only and I see I had “Limit to load” box ticked, so it did not feed the non-essentials. It would be nice though if there were graphs for those loads as well.

Sunsynk Inverter Query
My essential loads on the Sunsynk gives me all the data and graphs on the solarman app but when the batteries are fully charged I believe the excess power can also feed the Non-essential loads not on the inverter, Is there anywhere where this data is also displayed as I have not yet came across it anywhere to see if it actually does work. Has anyone actually seen data or proof that it is the way the Sunsynk works?

Sunsynk 5.5 with Pylontech US3000
The Sunsynk has been running for a few months now and no complaints. Now that it’s been running for a while I was surprised to see you can run a 3KW geyser element with only 1 x US3000 (set to 1.8KW maximum of course) and plus taking into account my undersized 1980W worth of pv panels. At midday with nice sunshine it does not need any grid blending except the 10W grid feed-in setting that I have setup. It will be hard for me to justify more panels with my little usage. I need to get a extra battery for night time though. Below 3KW geyser load on at midday and it’s on a timer for 20minutes at a time.
