  1. I bought mine from the powerforum store: https://powerforum-store.co.za/collections/accessories/products/rs232-to-usb-converter-cable-kit-for-pylontech
  2. Hi guys, has anyone tried changing BMS parameters for Pylontech batteries? I want to increase maximum charging current from 25A to 100A using batteryView. Can someone assist with steps to follow
  3. Hi, my RIOT number is 354, but the problem seems to have fixed it's self.
  4. I think you can get them with battery view
  5. looks like I'll be getting my solar investment money sooner than planned. https://ewn.co.za/2021/09/01/eskom-s-de-ruyter-warns-of-coming-electricity-tariff-hikes?fbclid=IwAR1Qxwo5MbbLP49krla-TulEJUju1Kkbt9jcNK_KZ_pbFUulhhTN162-u3c
  6. Even with the spec posted, he might not have the right incline angle on his roof, or Shades, or no North facing roof etc, to be able to use the full potential of the panels. Over sizing helps, especially in winter or cloudy days. So I stand by my rough estimation above and I can guarantee you that he will make use of all the nine panels
  7. Rough estimation, take the 3000W/350w if using 350w pv panels, will give you 8,57 number of panels to use. Round that off and make it 9 panels. How you wire them to your inverter, will require you to check the spec of your MPPT so that you do not blow it up in smoke. If using the 360w panels, follow the same step but divide with 360w to get the number of panels
  8. If I was you, I would have long started with the claims process because it takes long before they can send you a new main board. They are not going to replace the complete inverter and depending on where you bought from, they might be able to change the board for you or you will have to do it yourself like I had to do, earlier this year.
  9. It is normal for the SOC LEDs to switch off every now and then when your batteries are idle. Mine does the same when not charging or discharging, its like the batteries go into sleep mode or something.
  10. The whole day RIOT cloud showing 78% and -8Amps and no response from Support. Has anyone had this issue before? Can some one assist?
  11. Eish! You have damaged your inverter, the representative mislead you. The firmware of the two inverters can't be the same. ES and TL models are different, if its a new inverter, take it back for warranty swap. Especially because the supplier, assuming that when you said representative you meant supplier, said you can use the firmware for ES model to update your TL model
  12. Hence my suggestion for an inverter that will never export to the grid. I don't think he will have issues if he is not exporting to the grid, but I stand to be corrected
  13. True that it can't push into the grid, you wouldn't want to push into the grid if you have a budget of R150k. False that it is not a hybrid, a simple google will do if not sure. hybrid inverter (sometimes referred to as a multi-mode inverter) is an inverter which can simultaneously manage inputs from both solar panels and a battery bank, charging batteries with either solar panels or the electricity grid. The specific model suggested, does exactly this, so how is it not a hybrid?
  14. I would go for three Growatt SPF5000TL at around R10k each, then one Pylontech US3000C for around R17k, the rest of the money will go to solar panels, cables and other accessories. As for the installation, you will have to DYI.
  15. Hi, where are you located?
  16. Hi guys, out of interest, which inverters are these, that needs ''jump starting''?
  17. Hi John, are you planning to build an inverter from scratch? if not, then you do not to build any circuit to protect the inverter when you switch it on. Just connect it according to the installation manual and you will never go wrong. if it pops when powering ON, take it back to your supplier for warranty repairs or exchange
  18. DIY is best bro, at least you will be sure that you have secured your investment on the roof properly. Peace of mind Two weeks ago when I was migrating six of my panels from one side of the roof to the next, out of no where came the wind and and almost blew my panels off the roof. Never been so scared because I was carrying one and felt like I was doing kite surfing
  19. @shovelhead is the CT coil and associated zero export setting considered a reverse flow blocking device? Technically NO! Reverse flow blocking device is like protection device in a way that even if one day you play around with your settings and mistakenly change your zero export setting, the device must be there to block your production from flowing to the grid.
  20. Not solar related, but has anyone used AC Direct before?https://acdirect.co.za/, is it legit?
  21. Don't compare it to the Sunsynk, it is the same as comparing BMW 320d with a VW golf GTD. they both have 2.0l diesel motors but the two cars are different in so many ways. One is more expensive than the other but both are fun to drive If the budget allows, go for Sunsynk. My advice is only based on the R40k budget and the property being a rental place. I'm also in the same situation trying to get something for my rental property and will definitely go for a cheaper solution because I want a quick ROi
  22. If I had the R40k, I would get the following: Growatt SPF5000TL at R9.5k 4 x Jinko solar Panels 535W at R2990 each 1 x Pylontec US3000C at R16.9k All that for R38.4k or get one Pylontec US2000C at R12k which will get your total cost to R33.5k and leave you with R6500 to use for cabling and other stuff
  23. Hi, You go the sunsynk and hubble route, you will be on plus or minus R36k. No chance of getting the solar panels if your budget is R40k. Your initial idea of getting a growatt inverter was the best idea. For the price of 5kw Sunsynk, you can get a 5Kw Growatt and four panels. As for the battery, I'm not sure if Hubble works with Growatt, maybe the guys can confirm.
  24. Also interested in one but no information and no responses
