    The trick is the multiple MPPT's (unless your inverter already has 2+). I have set my float voltages differently to avoid arguing around mid day.

    I've done that with a small test string facing WNW (480W @ 45deg tilt) and get 7 amps @ 17:00. There is power to be had!!

  5. And what it is doing in the box is push current to the low voltage cell from the higher voltage cell. The amps readings should be higher on the low voltage cell pos and lower on the high voltage cell pos. If I am correct that is ... Mr Hobson...

  10. Hi @incagarcilaso I use SolMon for my PVoutput uploads. It uploads v7 to v12 which are the fields needed for the Extended Data. The data is uploaded in the same string as the other pvo data and once each field is labelled in pvo then it displays as per my pvo extended data. The mappings are as per my request to @Edmund Pohl during his development of SolMon. I'm sure @Manie could add this in ICC. The only change I would make is for the v12 which needs a small decimal shift Be aware: PVO is 5 minute data and so you WILL lose out on seeing spikes in the various bits of data. So PVO is not a great monitoring tool for detailed analysis.
  11. Always good to see a positive result. 1% not to bad but this will improve. Remember you will see spikes when under high load or high charge but that's normal. Any chance you can upload you data to PVOutput and send us the link? or your EMON site link with the MPV displayed on a graph.
  12. Sounds like the one string is floating and the others have lagged behind. the hassle is you now sit with the inverter thinking the bank is floating but the other 2 strings are behind. Split them up as above and monitor closely. You may need to charge each battery separately using a good 12V charger which can help revive them properly. Still to just eskom while you do this. Been there, done it, and its a pain ;( (I also have 12V 102ah batts)
  13. Can I suggest you first disconnect the 3 strings and charge each string separately with their own balancers checking the batteries regularly. Once all strings are deemed healthy then you can reconnect them as a full bank.

Agreed but the wiring must look a nightmare and is... the cells naturally want to settle and balance so I like helping rather than forcing - especially if you are jumping across the bank.. eg: cell 1,2 to 13,14. I'm sure the HA02's are not built to manhandle the various differences. Plus there is high amp loads as well - pulling this out of balance.
  16. Personally I would move to a traditional wiring model. HA02a - 1 3 5 7 HA02b - 9 11 13 15 HA02c - 17 19 21 23 HA02d - unused It could be that the interconnections are fighting with each other instead of working side by side.

    Just done the test again on my axpert in UPS mode. Solar to Grid: Immediate Grid to Solar: Immediate (unless you have done a change within 5 minutes then it delays for a period (5 mins - time from last change). Because I try not to switch back and forth I don't see any delays in a normal day with my time scheduling set for a morning and evening switch.
  18. Mine never get hot but I don't have a large bank with high amps flowing. It could be an issue... I would swop it out. Not worth the risk of a short or fire. Edit: If your wiring means that some balancers are balancing high loads (ie 10A - max) for long periods then heat may be an issue. You have a 1500a bank so could be charging at 150A. ie 10A max for each of the 4x balancer circuits in the one small box. 40A per HA02...

    I charge batteries and use solar at the same time with my 4048 (Axpert 5kv) so am very happy. On grid though it uses Grid only and then charges the batteries. So I agree with Coulomb above. I have SBL set on Menu 1.
  20. Cool. I must admit its a risk. BUT... The clever guys will suggest a way to trigger a relay based on SOC that will disconnect it so it doesn't kill your battery bank. At least you have some wind now. Do you have an idea of how it holds the bank overnight. Especially given the influence of Dineo?
  21. What is the float voltage of the turbine? I would be nervous of overcharging the bank on a windy day if the bank was kept at 58V continuously..
  22. Agreed Silver. It depends are you in a windy area (ie fully charge batts with turbine) or set the turbine to 52V and if there is sun it priortises PV. I have 2 MPPT's and have to do this or they argue. I don't like the idea of switching the turbine on and off. Unless with a relay based on SOC?
  23. Can he not set the float voltage levels on the turbine controller and PV controller differently? That way the turbine take over from the PV as soon as the PV gets to battery level of 52V for example....

  25. Hi Neb. Measure the resistance of the cable and exclude the batteries. In order to balance the batteries you need to get the string(cable) resistance as equal as possible. Lets me also say. The system is the envy of many here including myself. Maybe why we are all keen for it to be as perfect as it looks My 2c anyway.
