SunSynk - Inverter Monitoring
Hi Guys This is resolved in the latest beta version: https://solar-assistant.io/help/updates/beta It includes energy sensors with all the properties required by the HomeAssistant energy module:
-
SunSynk - Inverter Monitoring
What you have experienced as a bug is actually a feature. This firmware update allows you to read parallel inverters with a single RS485 adapter. Previously if you wired all the RS485 cables together and requested data on modbus address 1 all the inverters responded at the same time causing a corrupt response. You were forced to use an RS485 adapter for each inverter. With this update you can query the specific address you want a response from and only that inverter responds. This update is going to be disruptive since most inverters have their address set to 0 and many modbus utilities won't even allow querying on address 0. A changelog would have been really helpful.

Fact check: Axpert/King vs Victron video
More recently the cheaper models also blend PV and grid. Notice how the "Solar first" output source priority changed in the manual below. Axpert MKS II Axpert MKS III:

Free solar monitoring device - Voltronic inverters
It's compatible with your inverter but can not read your battery via direct cable. If you have BMS comms between inverter and battery then SolarAssistant will read the correct battery SoC, Capacity, etc. from the SunSynk. We support reading Narada directly via RS232. Currently working on adding RS485 and cables to our store. Nope, getting lots of customers from all regions world wide. As stated before on this forum topic, commercial content is against the powerforum rules. Rather email us if you have a question.

Revov Life B100 51.2V LifePo4 Battery Pack X2
Example system where a Victron SmartShunt is connected via VE.Direct cable: Very similar if you use the Victron BMV via VE.Direct cable: Since SolarAssistant can read Revov directly, you don't need Victron shunts as others noted in this topic. This is what a direct connection to Revov looks like: If your inverter can't read your BMS directly, then you can use one of the connections above to switch inverter between modes as described below: https://solar-assistant.io/help/power-management/axpert We are currently working on adding RS485 support for Revov, which will be ready in the next week or two. At that point we will most likely stop selling RS232 cables for Revov and start selling it's RS485 cable. Some Revov batteries doesn't have an RS232 port. The software will keep on supporting both options.

Free solar monitoring device - Voltronic inverters
Hi @vylint, the beta testing ended last year already. There are now 100+ users on SolarAssistant.

Free solar monitoring device - Voltronic inverters
Hi @Ian Jacobs You can access it via local network by using it's IP address and the "Offline" password. As an example for the unit below it is accessible via: http://10.0.0.100 Note we are currently working on making it use a direct local connection even if you use the cloud URL, but it will take a while to complete.

software for sunsynk + pylontech combo
Cables will be available from Monday 29 March. Yes only one device can be connected via the WiFI/RS232 port. We do integrate with Home Assistant but it's a smaller group of users that is beta testing it currently. It sends out auto discovery information via MQTT to Home Assistant so that your inverter/battery shows up in Home Assistant automatically. This is similar to how tasmota published it's data and switch capabilities to Home Assistant. The fact that our product name is Solar Assistant and our domain follows exactly the same format (contains a dash and ends with .io) as Home Assistant is not an accident 🙂 For further contact, please rather email us as this is a non-commercial forum.

One way to interpret the message from your manufacturer is "with our range of products, the RS485 port is intended for battery communication only"...

software for sunsynk + pylontech combo
We are developers of solar monitoring software and this forum doesn't allow responses from commercial members, so please see this reply purely as technical input in terms of what is possible. I can confirm that we can read all metrics from both the WiFi/RS232 port and the RS485 port of both the Deye and SunSynk inverters. We read it directly meaning it doesn't use or intercept the WiFI dongles that are commonly used. We also store all data on the device and there is no technical reason why internet is required. So in short everything you mentioned is technically completely possible and is how all our customers do their monitoring.

Mecer King - Host of Problems
Hi @coulomb, just to be clear: we don't recommend specific charge/cutoff voltage settings, we only recommend setting battery type "User" with values filled into the charge/cutoff voltage settings as desired by the user/installer. I agree your recommendations are better than what is configured in the screenshot I posted.

Mecer King - Host of Problems
Hi @Lionel Kosny I'm the developer of monitoring software that supports the Mecer King. We recommend the following to customers that don't have inverter to bms coms: use "User" battery type setting and set your cutoffs as desired (see screenshot below). Then use our power management as described here: https://solar-assistant.io/help/power_management/axpert This solution of course requires the monitoring device which might not be ideal for your scenario, but the solution does work very well. I'll give you a free license if you want to try it out. In terms of supporting your custom Lithium battery: we support the typical lithium bms protocols you get via the RS232 or RS485 interface. Alternatively what @Gnome mentioned in principle sounds like it should work to get inverter to bms coms working.

Free solar monitoring device - Voltronic inverters
Hi everyone, unfortunately for me to discuss Solar Assistant as a product, compare features, etc. is against the forum rules as it will effectively be a commercial discussion. You are welcome to discuss it amongst each other, but I can't give official answers on the open forum.
