Hi guys,

I am hoping someone can assist, as my inverter does not seem to want to charge my battery fully.

It only seems to trickle charge and I have tried playing around with the settings, but can't figure out how to get it fully charged.

We need to see the battery settings, and have you had a cable made up, and connected between the inverter and battery?

The cable that comes with the Hubble AM-2 battery is only to be used between two or more batteries, not to the inverter.

If you go to the Hubble website and look for Sunsynk setup, all will be explained there.

Don't forget the DIP switch settings too.👍

Welcome to the great world of power independence. 😆

I notice by your first picture, you are on of the "lucky" ones.

Thanks for the input.

As far as i know they made up the cable. The interesting part was that it was charging the battery fully, but after me playing with the solar export settings, something went wrong and now no matter what settings I put, it never charges the battery more than a trickle charge, so the battery never really gets fully charged.

I have included the battery settings.

You have no PV panels, right?  To enable grid charge try this ...

Whatever you setup in Work Mode 1 wont have any effect unless you tick Use Timer.

I do have PV panels.

I did have the use timer ticked, but it did not seem to make any difference, but have ticked it again.

Your battery settings look good, but on the battery Charge tab, set "Float V" to 52.6V.

Un-tick the "Use Timer", and then when you are back at the "Home screen" (your first screenshot above) press on the white space or any bar chart to bring up the "Flow Screen". Give a screenshot of that and the "LI BMS" screens. 👍

@TimCam

The hubble website says to use 53.6V, so not sure I want to change that setting without a good reason as I don't have a clue what that does🥴.

Attached the images requested.

Seems like it does increase the charge to the battery, but only when the battery drops below 80%, then the charge goes to around 100W+, but if its over 80% SOC, then the charge is only around 20/30W, which never really charges the battery fully.

Looking at your first few screens, you are exporting to grid, and the flowchart confirms it.

Do you want to export to grid?

Hi.

On the battery type page, select AGM V, select OK then leave it for a minute to run on voltage and then select Lithium and then OK.

This might help

Another thing to try is to switch off the main battery with the switch at the bottom and on again. Mine stopped at 95% this afternoon and once I power cycled the main battery it started charging again.

Looking at the LiBMS screen, something is fishy there as "Charge Current Limit" should NOT be 0A.

Try what @Leshen and @Analytical say, and see if this parameter changes.

Look at the sticker on the battery, which says "Float Voltage" = 52.6V.

You can't have float, absorption, and equalization all the same, as they serve different functions, as they are named.

Another thing to confirm, is DIP switch 1 set ON, and 2,3,4 set OFF?

Yes, I would like to export excess into the grid

Tried it, but no joy

Thanks, that did the trick.

Annoyed I did not think of it before🧐

Thanks for taking the time to assist, really appreciate the guidance.

I am not sure if maybe I'm not understanding how the inverter works, but from what I read and was told, you can put the full load as a bypass thru the inverter, i.e non essential like stove etc, and the inverter will be able to read that and show the load from the grid and use any excess solar to feed that load and if not enough, then blend that with the grid power.

So the battery will not be used on the non-essential but only on the essential load. My sparky says otherwise and currently the inverter only shows the essential load, so I am not sure if I misunderstood or if it's him. Does anyone understand this aspect of the inverter and can advise accordingly?

I can provide my 2cents here. I have an essentials DB which feeds off the Load/Ups from the inverter. It houses all plugs and lights of my house.

Then there's the original house db(none essentials) . It has the main eskom breaker, one outbuilding  breaker and one stove breaker. Then the CT coil is around the eskom live just before it enters the main breaker.

When the grid is on ie main breaker on and I set the inverter to only use battery from say 5pm to 6pm and the battery discharge rate is high enough (in my case 2 x AM-2s, so 8.8kw effective), the battery will provide power to the essentials load AND the none essentials. If the battery discharge rate is exceeded, the grid will be blended in to supplement the demand.

One thing I have not tested due to no load shedding yet since install is when grid goes down and main breaker is on. I suspect the inverter will then not make use of the Grid as an output anymore and the none essentials will go down. This would make sense I guess.

I heard after firmware update the flow display does not show the CT and house icon anymore. I still have it and can see exactly say 0kw grid but 1kw going to none essentials All from battery.

I repeated some of the things you already mentioned but hope it helps and correlates with your findings.

Anyone knows why the house and CT coil does not display for me?

If your installer has wired ALL loads through the inverter as essential, you will have the above flow display.

if you have non essential loads before the inverter, and the CT coil is just before the inverter (this is wrong), you will have the same flow display, and be "blind" to non essential loads.

if you have non essential loads before the inverter, and the CT coil is at the first point in from Eskom (At the MCB), you can then see the non essential loads, and feed them with solar as long as you have incoming Eskom power. During load shedding, you'll only supply essential loads. This is one of your inverters many great features.:)

Hi guys,

Thread hijack!

If I have a 5kw inverter only (solar, later), which "timer settings" should I use, if at all?

Set your SOC on all the timer lines to 80% .You can then untick 'use timer' once a week to fully charge the battery(as per hubble's requirements) and then retick the use timer .
