Hi all. Want to share my Sunsynk solar system recently installed in June. 

Specs: 

  • Sunsynk 12kw hybrid inverter x2 (24kw) 3 phase
  • 14.3kwh SolarMD lithium batteries x3 (42.9kwh)
  • 380w JA Solar black frame panels x40 (15.2kw PV)
  • John Deere 40Kva generator linked to inverters as a last resort backup.

Great system. Very similar to what I’m considering , including the generator.

 

one question , you say installed in a June , but the graph gives full 12 months data . Is that projection ?

Thanks gents. Yes that is a projection from the simulation done by the installers. It also takes into account sources of system loss in the graph on the right.

Thanks for sharing! I am new to solar and looking at a similar (probably smaller) size system.

Pls help me understand the size selection of Panels vs Inverter in above installation. I was told to always consider oversizing (by c.33%) the solar array vs inverter size to ensure the inverter runs at close to its capacity (and therefore more efficient?). Here I see solar array is smaller at 15kW vs total inverter sizing of 24kW. Or am I missing something.

Panels are the cheapest and easiset component to add to a system so there is good expansion capability built into this installation. The sizing of inverter to PV is probably ok for now but should additions need to be made then OP can add on another 12 or so panels at a cost thats less than a new inverter or battery

My installer did a great job on sizing this system. Looked at our peak power usage as well as average for the day. 

The highest peak I have seen was 12KW load, and what you need to remember is that even if it goes over 15KW it will then share the load between the panels and the batteries or grid through the inverter. Let's say it's 5pm and the solar generation sits at 4KW. If the yard is using 7KW at that time the other 3KW will then be supplied by the batteries or grid if batteries are empty. The system can handle 24KW total which will never happen.

Regarding the amount of panels. If our batteries are at 35-40% at 7am in the morning, which is where it usually sits on average, the panels are able to charge them to 100% at around 12:00. So currently I don't see the need to add more panels except if City of Cape Town starts giving me loads of cash for pushing power back into the grid :D

Sizing a similar system with 42*560W panels for a small lodge and debating whether to use 2x12kW three-phase Deye or 3x8kW single-phase Deye. Currently inclined towards 3x8kW single-phase inverters because of the MPPT controller i.e. 26A+26A (5200W+5200W) as opposed to 26A+13A (10400W+5200W) on the 3P inverter.
