Forecast do vary. My source shows Hoedspruit had isolated clouds up to 11h. The total day sunshine also 2hrs less than a full sunshine day. Of interest was yesterday. Solcast had a forecast of only 10% the yield of Wednesday/Thursday which was very far out.
November 6, 20232 yr We recently mover to WC from JHB. MY array is 30x250w but facing east/west ( 40%west and 60%east split) meaning cannot really compare to the north facing side panels other people have We are off grid . Don't have a problem with power supply. We had to switch off one inverter over night in winter to save some power for the morning. Generally I am happy being off grid . Do you have generator for the fierce winters in WC?

Problem, I live in high density suburb and those wind turbines are very noisy ( Even the smaller ones ) so would end up with complaints from neighbors and wife 🤣 Also if I remember correctly the COCT by-laws prohibit any structure going more than a meter above roof height, which would pretty much makes the wind turbine too inefficient.
November 6, 20232 yr Author So we have a very nice whole rainy day forecast for. TUESDAY just like not so long ago. Seems like raining from 04h00 😀😀

November 6, 20232 yr Author 12 minutes ago, TaliaB said: Yeah yeah you right tomorrow in Jozi very little solar production😝 What is interesting is that this site did a forecast for today to be 20Wh/m2 better than Sunday while the actual yield was about 25% less. One can see how they update as new measurements are taken. The forecast is now 2121Wh/m2 and yesterday at 11h21 it was shown as 2915Wh/m2 for Tuesday. A little better than during the rain last week. November 7, 20232 yr "Do you have generator for the fierce winters in WC? " no, we don't. The batteries and the panels are big enough to provide the power for rainy days
November 7, 20232 yr Today I only got 14.2KW in Centurion 8KW Sunsynk with 22x600w panels I will look for a black Friday special to get a extra 8KW then i can get more panels…
November 8, 20232 yr Generated 9.6kwh with 18X540w panels in Centurion, 9 panels in a string facing east and 9 panels in a string facing west. 2X 5kw Sunsynk inverters with 4X Narada 100ah lifepo4 batteries, the system is about 3 years old.
November 8, 20232 yr Interesting to see the production some people are still able to get. I'm under-panelled. If I addressed that then on a day like today (clear and sunny) I'd be over-panelled, but on days like yesterday I'd have better production and thus less reliance on the grid.
November 8, 20232 yr Only managed 4,8kWh yesterday, but then it rained all day. Only after 15:00 did it start producing and more than 50% of the production was that last hour and a half after 15:00 Panels are facing NNE so my summer production starts very early but ends rather early too. I Managed 6.3 KWh and for the third time since I've installed my system had to use about 2,3 KW grid to charge my battery for the scheduled LS from 18:00 to 20:00

Please keep on posting your array size in kwp the solar panel manufacturer the immediate surrounding ( Boksburg, Germiston Pta ect.) I am busy working on a model that could predict solar output by using irradiance in W/m² and i need data to compare against the model. Maybe i must start a new thread where all the data will be available for everyone. Today irradiance for Jhb. @Yuri @frans400 @zsde @Antonio de Sa Thanks some nice data for comparison for my solar model, what make(manufacturer) of panels do Yuri and Frans have and your area?
November 8, 20232 yr I have 22x 600W(13200W) Canadian Solar but the 8KW Sunsynk can only do 10400W so it is restricted in the settings... I am in Centurion Edited November 8, 20232 yr by Yuri

I am in Centurion Interesting that we had 2 spikes at the same time. My before 15h was higher than the 09h spike. Both in Centurion. That's how different things can be a few km apart. My yield dismal and about 12% of a full sunshine day. It turned out worse than the previous rainy days. The forecast was 2200Wh/m2 vs 1880Wh/m2 the previous rainy days.
November 14, 20232 yr Author How about someone posting the Solcast Gauteng forecast for the next few days. @TaliaB you can also post the EL Tiempo for Gauteng. Edited November 14, 20232 yr by Scorp007

I have been searching after filling in at the house icon. It then shows the towns that matches your search from where one can select. Not sure what source you used to forecast a VERY POOR value for 16 Nov or even the bad days and only good PV around 22-23 Nov.

Like i said it changes constantly even the local SA weather site predicted overcast for the next 5 days but that was also updated, most probably the reason it is called a forecast🫣
